HP14 4LG The Practice provides a full range general medical services including: maternity, family planning, cytology, Child health surveillance, immunisation, and health checks. More urgent cases will be seen the same day, otherwise you will be offered the first available appointment. IF YOU CANNOT KEEP AN APPOINTMENT AND NEED TO CANCEL, PLEASE INFORM US AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Our lines are open from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm, but are very busy, especially in the morning. To find out test results, please ring between 3.30 pm and 5.00 pm. Reception Staff will be pleased to help you by offering help and advice with any of your
questions. It is a legal requirement that confidentiality of patient records is maintained at the highest standard by our staff. Locations:

🐝 Been bitten by an insect? Your local pharmacy can help.

Many insect bites and stings can be safely assessed and treated by your local pharmacy, so you may not need a GP appointment.

Through the NHS Pharmacy First service, pharmacists can provide expert advice and, where appropriate, prescription-only treatment for infected insect bites for patients aged 1 year and over.

Visit your local pharmacy if you have:
✅ Redness, swelling or pain after a bite or sting
✅ Concerns that your bite may have become infected
✅ Symptoms that aren't improving

⚠️ Call 999 or go to A&E immediately if you or someone else has difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or signs of a severe allergic reaction.

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, so regular checks are an important way to look after your health.

💚 You can get your blood pressure checked at Hughenden Valley Pharmacy – it's quick, convenient and could help identify any problems early.

🏠 If you already have a blood pressure monitor at home, you can also take regular readings yourself. Home monitoring can help you keep track of your blood pressure between appointments.

If your readings are consistently high, or you have any concerns, please contact the surgery.

💧 Stay hydrated during the warmer summer months

As temperatures rise, it is especially important to drink regularly throughout the day. Most people should aim for 6–8 glasses of fluid each day, but you may need more during hot weather, when exercising or if you are unwell.

Remember to:

✅ Carry a reusable water bottle
✅ Drink regularly, even if you do not feel thirsty
✅ Offer drinks frequently to children and older people
✅ Check that your urine is a clear, pale yellow colour

Water is a healthy choice, but lower-fat milk and sugar-free drinks, including tea and coffee, also count towards your daily fluid intake.
