This time last week I taught my first ever Herbal First Aid ⛑️ workshop. I’ve always seen teaching as an important part of our role as herbalists. As our access to mainstream healthcare becomes more limited, we need to go back to the old ways of self treating as much as possible with what we already have.
Plus, if I’m honest, I don’t think the way most herbalists source medicines, including myself, is sustainable. Much of my stock is herbs 🌿 that grow locally, but they’re imported from eastern Europe. Would you believe that 4 stockists I’ve tried are currently out of Nettle leaf?! It’s probably one of the most common ‘weeds’ in the U.K. for all but about 3 months of the year!
Luckily I can, and will make some. It’ll take a month or so, but it’ll be made with love ❤️ and extra special.
Using herbs is easy when you know how. As well as befriending your local medical herbalist, you could join the Herb Society and learn from the lovely magazines they send you 3 times a year. You’ll also get a discount off my workshops! The next one is on Winter Wellness and that’s in September- are you coming? .
