Running isn’t just “cardio.”
Every stride puts massive force through your muscles — far more than most people realize.

Here’s what your body handles while running at a steady pace:

* Calves (soleus): up to 6–8× bodyweight
* Quadriceps: around 4–6× bodyweight
* Hamstrings: roughly 2–9× bodyweight
* Glutes: about 1.5–3× bodyweight
* Ground reaction force per step: typically 2–3× bodyweight

For a 75 kg runner, that can mean the calf muscles briefly handling over 500 kg of force during a single stride.

That’s why strength training matters for runners.
Your muscles aren’t just moving you forward — they’re absorbing impact, stabilizing joints, and recycling energy thousands of times per run.

Flat runs into explosive movements… then straight into incline work to finish the legs off 💨💪

🏃‍♂️ 500m runs @ 18kph (my speeds)
⛰️ 250m incline runs @ 15kph (7.5%) 2nd round
