***WARNING FOR DRIVERS***

Slippery 'Florida ice effect'

Rain is forecasted fall across tonight and tomorrow.

After weeks of extremely dry weather, this can cause the ‘Florida Ice Effect’, making roads incredibly slippery.

It happens in the first part of a rain shower when the oils, dust, sludge and grime all get wet and brought to the surface by the rain, creating a sheen on the roads, which makes driving similar to driving on ice. This can make it much easier to suddenly lose control of your vehicle and spin out.

In the past, there will have been an increase in road traffic collisions occurring during these periods,

Take extra caution if you’re out on the roads.
