100 years of Auntie (BBC)

This week at Ashby Court we had the pleasure of the attendance of Dave Andrews who gave us a very interesting insight into the history of BBC from its inception to the present day.

A few interesting fact that were learnt:

1) National papers not publishing the programme schedules caused Lord Reith to launch The Radio Times.
2) The first radio daily broadcast was in 1922
3) The first monarch’s Christmas broadcast was in 1932

A fantastic day was had by all on our owners annual Canal trip. This year the canal trip commenced at the boat yard in Nuneaton, this is only a few miles away from Ashby Court, we are so lucky to be so close to beautiful countryside. at 30 degrees an adhoc ice cream break had to be added, this is always a popular trip being so close to us,

Race night is always a popular night for our owners, last week was no exception, the usual full house for this one, rumour has it there was some full pockets as well.

Another fantastic day out for the owners at Ashby Court, this time it was a trip to The Cotswolds on a beautiful summers day. Some lovely pictures of the return but, unfortunately they had such a fantastic time they must have forgot to take pictures whilst they were there for us to enjoy!

A day out with a difference for some of our owners at Ashby Court. When "Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe" in Melton Mowbray is 175 years old, why not pay them a visit? Better still, have a go at making a good old fashioned pork pie youself. Yet another trip from Ashby Court, never a dull moment!
