Volunteer Counsellors Wanted – Free Additional Clinical Supervision

Hello everyone,

I am currently completing my clinical supervision training and am looking for a small number of qualified or trainee counsellors who would be interested in receiving additional supervision at no cost as part of my qualification.

This supervision would be in addition to your existing contracted supervision and is intended to support your practice while enabling me to complete the required supervised hours and case studies for my course.

Who I’m looking for:

* Qualified or trainee counsellors currently working with clients.
* Counsellors who already have their primary clinical supervisor in place.
* Individuals who are happy to engage in regular supervision sessions and provide feedback as required for my training.

What I can offer:

* Free, confidential and supportive clinical supervision.
* A collaborative, reflective space grounded in ethical practice.
* Supervision as part of an accredited supervision training programme, with oversight from my course tutor.
* Sessions available online across the UK or face-to-face from my location in Essex.

A little about me: I am a qualified counsellor with experience in hospice bereavement services, the charity sector and private practice through Wood Willow Counselling.

If this opportunity would be of interest to you, or you’d simply like to find out more, please feel free to send me a private message. I’d love to hear from you.

Thank you!

☀️ Summer isn’t always sunshine.

While social media fills with holidays, BBQs and smiling family photos, for many people summer can also bring reflection, change and emotional challenges.

Perhaps you’re navigating:
🌿 Changing family dynamics after separation or divorce.
🌿 Children moving between homes during the school holidays.
🌿 Grief that feels more noticeable when routines slow down.
🌿 Relationship difficulties that become harder to ignore when you’re spending more time together.
🌿 A sense that life isn’t where you hoped it would be.

Sometimes it’s only when life becomes quieter that we finally hear what we’ve been trying to silence.

If this summer is bringing up emotions you weren’t expecting, please know you’re not alone. You don’t have to carry them by yourself.

Counselling offers a confidential, compassionate space to explore what’s happening, make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and move towards the life you want to create.

✨ It’s okay if this season isn’t about finding happiness.
Sometimes it’s about finding yourself again.

Sometimes the people who seem to be “pulling away” aren’t withdrawing because they don’t care.

Sometimes they’re surviving.

When we’re overwhelmed, grieving, burnt out, living with trauma, navigating neurodivergence, or simply carrying more than anyone realises, our energy goes into getting through the day. From the outside, it can look like we’ve become distant, unreliable or “not ourselves.”

It’s easy to judge what we can see.
It’s much harder to be curious about what we can’t.

Before assuming someone isn’t showing up because they don’t value you, consider the possibility that they’re using every ounce of strength just to keep going.

And if you’re the one quietly fighting battles that nobody else sees, know this: your worth isn’t measured by how much you can give to everyone else.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is keep showing up for yourself.

🤍 Be curious before you judge. Compassion starts there.

🚨 RED HEAT ALERT 🚨

With temperatures expected to reach 35°C today, many people will be taking extra precautions to stay safe in the heat. What is less commonly discussed is how certain medications can affect our body’s ability to regulate temperature.

If you take an SSRI antidepressant, you may be at increased risk of heat-related illness. SSRIs can affect sweating and other mechanisms that help the body cool itself, making it harder to cope during periods of extreme heat.

Today, consider:

💧 Drinking water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty
🏠 Staying indoors or in cool, shaded environments where possible
🚶 Avoiding strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day
⚠️ Watching for symptoms such as dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion, excessive sweating or feeling unusually unwell

Please check in on vulnerable family members, friends and neighbours, particularly older adults, those with health conditions, and anyone taking medication that may affect heat regulation.

Your mental health matters, but so does your physical safety. Take care of yourself today.

Happy Father’s Day 💙

Today can bring a mix of emotions.

For some, it’s a day of celebration and gratitude. For others, it may carry grief, longing, distance, disappointment, or complicated feelings about a relationship with a father or father figure.

At Wood Willow Counselling, I recognise that Father’s Day is not experienced in the same way by everyone.

Today we hold space for:
✨ Loving and supportive dads
✨ Those missing their dad or father figure
✨ Fathers grieving the loss of a child
✨ Single fathers doing their best
✨ Stepdads, adoptive dads, foster dads and father figures
✨ Those navigating difficult or estranged relationships
✨ Anyone who finds today particularly hard

Whatever Father’s Day means to you, your feelings are valid.

Be gentle with yourself today. 💙

Taken in my garden this morning. There’s something really very tender about the first signs of spring.

Small shoots. Quiet colour. A gentle return of light.

New beginnings don’t have to be dramatic.
Sometimes they are simply allowing yourself a little more space, a little more kindness, a little more hope.
