We've spent some time in the garden today, harvesting the potatoes,🥔 which there were far more of than we expected in this heat. We also planted some fab dahlias,💐🌸 kindly donated to us from Anthony, a previous resident's son. 💖 Jean popped outside to inspect our new umbrellas, 🏖️ also very kindly donated to us by Jean's daughter, Louisa.
We feel so very lucky to have such supportive and generous families here at Beech Lodge. Thank you so much 💜

We had quite a competitive couple of games of ten-pin bowling and 'toss the bean bag' this morning! After a bit of haggling, it was decided it was a draw, so we took the decision to calm things down a bit and complete a couple of our favourite jigsaws. 🧩 The seaside🌊 one provoked a lot of memories of childhood, and we spent a short time down memory lane. 💜

Jean became the first resident to take advantage of the new garden area today, and she declared it "smashing". 👏🏻🙌🏻

We then made time for lunch outside; Jean particularly enjoyed watching the butterflies🦋 and birds that stopped by to have drinks at the water feature. 💦Because it was still so warm, we made more lemonade as Chef had ended up with more than her fair share of lemons. We took the saying "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade," so we took that literally! Once again, it was declared delicious.

We have had another sunny day in the garden with our Beech Lodge family. 💖💜 Mike and Keith knuckled down to putting together our new bird-feeding🐦 station while the rest of our al fresco group chatted and watched, offering the occasional "helpful" comment. 😉

We have also had some plants brought in by some of the families, so we also set to planting them before they baked.
We enjoyed a lovely lunch outside, watching the birds and listening to the water feature, after which some of us went for a walk up the road to see the sheep. 🐑

We had more birthday celebrations with Row celebrating a "big" birthday on Friday. 🎉💖

She received flowers 💐from her family, cards, and a visit from her grandson, who made sure she had a lovely day. 🥰 She also enjoyed the biggest strawberry and cream cake. 🎂

On Friday, we helped Alan celebrate his birthday with cards, flowers, chocolate and a wonderful cake. 🎉🎂

Last week we had to say goodbye to our lovely Nilupa. 😢Since she joined us as a carer, she really has taken our values on board about 'Making Things Happen.' Nilupa worked hard to become a senior, then even harder to get her nursing qualifications, 👩🏻‍⚕️🎓, and she had been a well-respected and loved member of the Beech Lodge family. 💜 Due to her personal commitments, Nilupa has now had to leave us, so we wish her love, luck and happiness for her future. 🎉🍀💖

Armchair Travel Day to India. This week our residents took part in an armchair Travel Day to India 🛋️🇮🇳. We began our travel day by putting up some bunting and flags of India 🇮🇳. We then coloured and made paper elephants 🐘🖍️. In the afternoon, all residents received a homemade passport with their photo inside, made by the residents 🪪. We then sampled a sweet treat from India, soan papdi. We then read out some interesting facts about India, including their national bird being the peacock🦚 and some of the famous landmarks 🕌.
