Step Into The Wild - Therapy in nature with Sam Addy

Step Into The Wild - Therapy in nature with Sam Addy Hi, I’m Sam. I offer Person-Centred counselling in the stunning Yorkshire countryside at Coddys Farm in Holmbridge, near Holmfirth.

I’ve had a number of enquiries recently asking where I’m based for face to face sessions, so I thought Id share a little more about my location. 🤍 initially I was doing online but found I had lots of interest in our local area so I’m really pleased to be offering face-to-face sessions from CMADE Outdoors, based at Broadclose Farm in Silkstone, Barnsley — a beautiful, peaceful setting surrounded by nature. 🌳🐴

One of the reasons I was drawn to offering sessions in this setting is because I’ve experienced first hand how difficult a traditional clinical environment can sometimes feel for the people we support. For some children, young people and adults, sitting in a clinical room can feel unfamiliar, intimidating or simply not conducive to feeling safe enough to open up.

I’ve always believed that the environment we work in matters. Sometimes it’s easier to talk when we’re not sitting opposite someone in a clinical room, and being surrounded by nature can bring a different sense of calm, freedom and connection.

CMADE gives me the opportunity to step away from the traditional clinical environment and create a space that feels a little more relaxed, natural and human. My hope is that this setting will help people feel more at ease, allowing therapy to happen in a way that feels safer and more comfortable for them. 🤍

At Hope Anchor Therapy, I support women, children and young people, offering a trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach through:

🤍 Counselling
🌿 Hypnotherapy
✨ Positive Psychology
🌱 IFS-informed & somatic approaches

I draw on these approaches to help clients better understand themselves, their emotions, their nervous system and the different parts of themselves, while gently developing a greater sense of safety, self-compassion and connection.

Face-to-face sessions are available alongside online sessions, so you can choose the approach and setting that feels right for you.

Some things you need to talk about are hard. So hard you don’t know where to start. So hard you don’t know how to start. So hard just the thought of starting makes you feel like you can’t breathe. But you need to get these things out because they’re tormenting you, keeping them in is painful.

Sitting somewhere like this to talk can make the unbearable feel just that bit more bearable.
Immersing yourself in nature naturally calms the parasympathetic nervous system, helping to switch off your body’s stress response, which in turn slows breathing and lowers your heart rate and blood pressure.
Practising this often will help make space for your mind and body to heal.

Man Made Theatre – is a bold new theatre production from Men's Talk exploring men's mental health, identity, loneliness and belonging.
Inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and created from real-life experiences, Man Made Theatre combines humour, music and powerful storytelling to challenge stereotypes and start conversations that matter.
Developed through CLEAR's Men's Talk programme, this is more than a performance—it's a powerful reminder that nobody should struggle alone.

We’re getting ready for this evening, up in them hills, over there….
A bringing together of people to celebrate Beltane and bathe under the full moon.
We’ll be doing some breathwork and yoga, relaxing and resetting our nervous systems in the woodland, connecting over food on the fire, reflecting and letting go, nature crafting, then finished with lying back (or sitting in a chair or round the fire) and taking in the moon and stars (a clear sky has been promised!).
The event is Pay as you feel, everyone is welcome. Come and join for as long or little as you’d like, and join in with as little or much as you’d like also. There are no expectations on participation, we’d just love to see you! ❤️

Our next wellbeing gathering with be on Beltane eve and full moons eve. Beltane in the wheel of the year indicates the beginning of summer. And the full moon is a time to reflect under full illumination the areas/things in your life you’re grateful for. Powerful that they collide we think. A time to gather round the fire, share company and food, and manifest your hopes, dreams and goals for the summertime ahead. Engaging all the physical and mental senses so we can energise ready for the summer fun to begin - bring it on!

We are hoping for a clear night sky so we can bathe under the moons glow and the stars 🤞Hope you can join us ❤️
