A polite but important request to our local community

We would kindly ask residents not to walk their dogs on the surgery grounds, including the staff garden area and particularly around the rear of the building.

These areas form part of the working environment of the practice and are used by staff and patients throughout the day. Around the rear of the surgery there is also a genuine risk that patient confidentiality could be compromised, for example through conversations being overheard or activity within clinical and staff areas being visible.

Unfortunately, today one of our GPs was sworn at after politely asking someone not to walk their dog through the surgery staff garden area. This is not acceptable.

Our staff should be able to carry out their work without being subjected to abusive, aggressive or intimidating behaviour for simply asking that private surgery grounds are respected.

We completely understand that many people enjoy walking their dogs locally, but the surgery grounds are not a public dog-walking route and we would be grateful if alternative routes could be used.

Please also remember that protecting patient privacy and confidentiality is a fundamental responsibility for us, and maintaining appropriate boundaries around the surgery site helps us to do that.

Thank you to everyone who respects our staff, our patients and the surgery environment.

Going on holiday? Don't forget your medication!
If you're planning a trip away, make sure you have enough of your regular medication before you travel.
✅ Order your repeat prescription at least 7 days before you need it to allow plenty of time for it to be processed and dispensed.
Before you go:
✔️ Check how much medication you have.
✔️ Request your repeat prescription early if needed.
✔️ Collect your prescription before you travel.
✔️ Pack your medication in your hand luggage if you're flying, along with a copy of your prescription or medication list if appropriate.
Please remember:
• GP practices cannot usually provide extra medication simply because you've left ordering until the last minute.
• If you're travelling for an extended period, speak to the practice well in advance, as prescriptions for long trips are considered on an individual basis.
The easiest way to request your repeat prescription is through the NHS App or your usual online service. ☺️

Dear Patients,

⚠️ Important information about nominated pharmacies

We are aware that some local patients are experiencing issues involving Holsworthy Community Pharmacy (previously was Allied Pharmacy) with changes to their nominated pharmacy.

Please be assured that these changes have not been made or authorised by the surgery. Our staff are unable to control how pharmacies access prescriptions through the NHS system, although we will continue to support patients wherever we reasonably can.

If you wish to make a formal complaint about this issue, please contact the NHS Devon ICB Patient Experience Team.

We understand how frustrating it is when medication does not reach the pharmacy you expected. However, please do not shout at, verbally abuse or lose your temper with our staff. This issue is beyond their control, and they are doing their best to help patients affected.

Thank you for treating our team with kindness and respect.

Kind Regards
