Many of you will know of the benefits of power napping. If you don't it's worth have a look.

In recent years I've explored places other than my armchair to engage in this fine practice. Airports, train stations and hospital waiting areas are all suitable.

That's provided you have someone with you to give you a nudge if your name, plane or train is called.

Do you keep a diary? If so, what do write in it?

It’s. Not something I’ve ever done. Might start though. Recording victories is really worthwhile. Even a goldilocks walk like this one.

Whatever way you do it, counting your victories seems like very good medicine.

Some reflecting made such a difference.

I could have stayed in that feeling of having failed. It wasn’t the whole story however and when I reviewed the whole trip, well, I created an altogether sense of the trip.

Everyday is indeed a learning day. So many positives!

And this coming Sunday we’ll finish the job. Very much looking forward to that.

Before you lock in something that you did that didn’t work out, stop awhile, take a step back and review the whole sequence. You might well be pleasantly surprised.

If you don't know, you don't know. And that is completely okay. Funny though how we can sometimes feel bad for not knowing something we could never have known.

Curious.

Afternoon

There’s so much that passes us by. There’s as much that we misinterpret. Have you ever “got the wrong end of the stick”?

Yes, me too. Way too often.

A recent eye test highlighted for me that our eyes can indeed deceive for two reasons. First, our eyesight might change as we age. Second, our lens or mental map might well need some updating.

There is a short handout in the comments to accompany today’s post.

It was very much a case of hope, an expectation of success and a wee dash of doubt.

And I imagine we’ve all had times/moments like that.

I’d be keen to hear some example about how you managed that was just outside a personal comfort zone.

Over the next few weeks I will share some of the learnings from this walk.

Any questions, thoughts, or examples please let’s know.

The Bray Celtic Camino might well be too much. After walking 5.6 mls on Sunday and at a decent pace I am however hopeful and will give it a right go. Importantly, I have numerous techniques to use along the way. Better yet, I have more still to learn.

Back in the early days of these injuries I was told a number of times that, in reference to the dropped foot and nerve pain “you’ll never get that back” and “that’s you till the finish>”

And yet.

Sunday to Bangor, walking around Dublin and then this morning’s walk all suggest something more is possible.

And that cheers me right up.

More when I have it.

Over the almost 30 years that I’ve been exploring how we work and how we might change I’ve had many significant and powerfully positive experiences.

Looking out beyond Neuro Linguistic Programming and hypnosis/self hypnosis I have recently enjoyed a marvellous outcome. Dr Schubiner’s masterclass in Manchester in April has yielded such a terrific result - I am cane free.

Yes, I have pain still and there are a number of challenges still to find answers for. BUT, not using a cane anymore, comfortably and confidently, really has given me a boost.

Thanks to all involved in promoting and managing the Masterclass.

If you live with persistent, chronic pain it might well be worthwhile to do some research into neuro plastic pain and how that might be alleviated.

If you want to know more about my experience I am more than happy to chat.

Over more than 25 years I have attended many trainings. The vast majority have been excellent. Some were completely outstanding.

My recent visit to see Howard Schubiner deliver a mind body masterclass in Manchester is right up there in the outstanding category.

This video attempts to explain just a little of what happened.

Yes, I will learn more about this way of working with pain and add that in to my existing suite of approaches.

If you want to explore further there are links to 3 websites (Howard’s, SIRPA and Living Proof) in the comments section.

Feedback, should we only notice it, is there pretty much all of the time. When we do notice it, and whether it’s something we like or don’t like, feedback pretty much demands that we do something with it. And sometimes, that’s where difficulties arise.

In today’s video I mention some feedback one of my sons gave me. He really influenced me, pointing something that I simply was not paying attention to.

Then I link that to a piece by the very excellent Andy Austin. Evidence of problems or evidence of solutions - which do you most look for. There is a link to Andy's Patterns of Chronicity and indeed his website in the comments section. Truly worth having a look at.

Towards the end of this 3 minute and bit video I say that I have a tip for you. Forgive me, there’s actually three or four.

More soon
