When care is delivered in someone’s home, safety doesn’t happen by chance.

It starts before care begins — through assessment, planning, communication, and the right support around every visit.

In home care teams often work independently across the community. That’s why we build safety through clear care plans, ongoing reviews, and systems that help ensure both customers and staff are supported at all times.

Because safe care at home relies on more than one person, it relies on everything behind the scenes.

💬 If you or a loved one receives care at home, what helps you feel safe and confident in that support?

What unpaid carers bring into care roles isn’t theory, it’s lived!

With Carers Week coming to a close, we recently sat down in the training room with our team and had an open conversation about care, not just the work they do, but the care many of them carry outside of it, too.
Because for a lot of people in this sector, that’s the reality.

They’ve already been supporting someone at home: a partner, a parent, a friend.
So they don’t come into care work starting from scratch; they come with real experience.
The kind that builds patience.
That teaches you to adapt quickly.

That shows you how to keep going when things aren’t straightforward.
And for many, that doesn’t stop when they start a paid role.
They’re balancing both, supporting someone they love at home, while supporting others through their work.
That overlap matters.

It shapes how people care, how they understand others, and the kind of support they offer day to day. But it’s often something that goes unrecognised because it doesn’t sit neatly on a CV.
As an employer, we work around that.
Not expecting people to separate those parts of their lives — but recognising them, and building flexibility and support that actually reflects it.

Because unpaid carers don’t just move into care roles.
They strengthen them.

💬 If caring for someone is part of your life, we’d really value hearing from you. What’s something you’ve learnt through caring for a family or friend that stays with you?

Meet Megan 👋

We grabbed a quick Q&A with her during first-aid training (because… when better?), and honestly, her answer says everything about why people move into community care.

💬 “I saw my mum benefit massively from care at home… and after years in residential, I wanted to experience that side of care too.
Seeing people in their own homes really highlights who they are — their life, their family, their hopes.”

And she’s completely right.

Care doesn’t change based on where it’s delivered, but the environment does.

At home, everything has to be thought about differently. Safety, routines, moving & handling, medication… all tailored to that person, in their space.
It’s detailed, it’s skilled, and it’s deeply personal.

We’re very glad to have you with us, Megan 💛

Not everyone enjoys the same things, and needing support doesn’t change that.

Some people love the classics. Others prefer action, something modern, or just going wherever there’s a bit more energy and atmosphere.

That’s why independence is about more than getting out and about. It’s about choosing what you enjoy and having the freedom to do it!

The Beehive Honiton’s Multi-Arts Community Venue in Honiton offers a great range of events. While we love their nostalgic cinema afternoons, we thought we’d share some of their other film and dining events too, and this meal and a movie sounds like a great option.

If you fancy catching a film, joining for lunch, or getting involved in something new but need support to access it, we can help you get there.

With recent changes being proposed around welfare and disability support…
Are you worried about the changes?

Not in theory. Not on paper.
But in your day-to-day life, how do you think this actually plays out?

For many people, support doesn’t just disappear… it shifts.
And where it lands is often much harder to see.
“The gap doesn’t disappear. Someone has to fill it.”
“As systems change, complexity doesn’t go away — it moves.”

Our blog just out looks at recent welfare reform direction, changes to disability support, and what that could mean in real life, not just policy.

We explore that impact from different angles:
from a service perspective, from a business perspective, and from within our own team, where unpaid care often continues outside of working hours, in people’s own homes, every day.

Because the reality isn’t always found in documents or headlines.
It’s found in:
• everyday routines
• small decisions
• and the people quietly holding things together in between

🙋Genuinely interested to hear from people here,
Do these changes worry you at all?
Or do they feel like something that needs to happen?

And in real terms, not policy, not headlines:
how do you think this will actually affect you, day to day?
Have you already started to notice a change?
