🧡🤍 We're pleased to be introducing bereavement support tools from The Good Grief Trust to help provide additional guidance for the families we care for.

We understand that grief doesn't end after a funeral. It can affect everyone differently, and sometimes having access to the right support can make all the difference.

That's why we'll be sharing resources from The Good Grief Trust, helping to connect families with trusted information, organisations and services whenever they may need them.

Whether you're looking for guidance, reassurance or simply somewhere to turn, we hope these resources provide comfort and support in the days, weeks and months ahead.

Because no one should have to navigate grief alone 🧡🤍

We're pleased to share that the improvements to our memorial grounds continue to progress.

Following our last update, the specialist treatment being applied to the thistles and w**ds is proving effective, and we're already seeing positive results across the grounds. As this is a gradual process, the treatment will continue over the coming weeks to ensure all affected areas are reached.
We would also like to kindly remind visitors not to remove any w**ds themselves. We truly appreciate that this comes from a place of care for the grounds and for loved ones remembered here. However, disturbing treated areas can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment and slow the progress being made.

Thank you again for your understanding and we will continue to update you until the grounds development is fully completed.

South Norfolk and Broadland Council are running free mental health awareness training sessions to help create supportive communities as part of our mindful towns and villages project.

Mindful Towns and Villages create safe spaces where people can talk openly about their mental wellbeing.

People from within the community (such as small local businesses, community groups, sports clubs, keen residents) receive basic mental health awareness training to help them feel confident in offering support, listening without judgement, and helping people find further support if needed.

These volunteers are called Wellbeing Champions.

We want to highlight that we do not expect Wellbeing Champions to give any additional time to this role; these conversations will occur naturally as part of daily life. Additionally, we do not expect Wellbeing Champions to take on the role of a counsellor or diagnose any conditions. They are simply there for a low-level chat and to signpost as needed.

The details of our next course are:

Title: Mental Health Awareness in the Community
Provider: South Norfolk and Broadland Council
Date: 21st July
Time: 6-8pm (please arrive 10 minutes early)
Location: St Faiths Crematorium

Mental Health Awareness in the Community Training

The training is 2 hours long with a break, and offers basic education about stress, different mental health conditions, why people may struggle and signs you may notice when someone is having a hard time. You will also learn how you might approach someone and start a conversation. Finally, you will learn about the Council's Help Hub and other services that can offer support so you can effectively signpost. You will receive access to a private area on the Council's website with further supporting website links and a supporting resource to use when having conversations.

We wanted to share another update on the progress being made across our memorial grounds and to thank everyone for your continued patience and understanding.

Our teams and specialist contractors have been working hard and we're pleased to see continued improvements as the manual work and treatment takes effect. As these photos show, we're also carrying out wider maintenance across the grounds, including cleaning the pond and restoring the water fountain.

The specific treatment being applied to the thistles and w**ds is working well, although it is a gradual process and will continue over the coming weeks as it reaches all affected areas. We kindly ask/remind visitors not to remove any w**ds themselves. We truly appreciate that this comes from a place of care, but disturbing the treated areas can reduce the effectiveness of the process and slow the progress being made.

Thank you for your ongoing support while we continue restoring the grounds to the peaceful, beautiful spaces that families know and cherish 🤍

Following our latest update, we wanted to share a further progress update on the work taking place within the memorial grounds.

We still have specialist contractors in who are supporting us with the thistle and w**d infestation. They are carrying out the necessary requirements of removing the thistles by hand and then treating the ground. Whilst this process takes time, it is the most effective long-term solution.

Alongside this work, we have strengthened our grounds maintenance resource. Two new grounds team members have already joined the team and we are also recruiting additional seasonal support to help accelerate the restoration and ongoing maintenance of the grounds throughout the summer.

We are already seeing progress, and improvements will continue over the coming weeks as the treatment takes effect and the additional resource is fully embedded. During this time we kindly ask that any remaining w**ds are left undisturbed while the treatment takes full effect.

Our families, and those laid to rest within our grounds, remain at the heart of everything we do. We are fully committed to restoring the grounds to the standard they deserve and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding while this important work continues.

Thank you for your continued support. We will continue to keep you updated as more progress is made.
