The skilled team at Skylark House in Horsham, West Sussex, provides an extensive range of care services, from residential and nursing care through to dementia and end of life care. Every resident is treated with dignity and respect and receives care that’s personalised to their needs and wishes. The home has excellent facilities, including a large, secure garden overlooking a riverside walk, as we

ll as a coffee shop, hair salon, bar and cosy cinema. There’s also an innovative range of group and one-to-one activities for residents to enjoy, tailored to their interests. Residents’ family members and friends are always welcome to visit whenever they wish, and they can join their loved one for a meal or take part in outings and activities.

A few pictures from the last week. We’ve observed Jamaica's 'Emancipendence Day', marking both Emancipation and Independence with a traditional game of dominoes in our garden. Our housekeeping team decorated the tables in the vibrant colours of the Jamaican flag, while residents enjoyed the warm sunshine, refreshing fruit juices, and delicious treats including plantain chips and coconut chin chin.

Arts and crafts with glow in the dark paints, feathers, butterflies, and crystals to create decorations for the summer BBQ event.

And not a week goes by without poetry & singing!

'SunDay Build Your Own Sundae'
Residents created their own sundae.
We had a seaside theme with beach scene backdrops.
Delicious flavours including vanilla, strawberry and chocolate and toppings:
• Strawberry & chocolate sauce
• Sprinkles
• Flakes
• Chocolate drops
• Mini marshmallows
• Chopped banana

Special thanks to Mia, Liz's Great Granddaughter who spread joy helping residents create their own sundae.

This prompted great conversations including:
• Did you have an ice cream van visit your street?
• What was your favourite flavour?
• How much did an ice cream cost when you were young?
• Did you visit the seaside as a child?
• Did anyone remember a "99"?

We watched old ice cream adverts & looked at seaside photographs to prompt memories.

🌞 Wowser, what a scorcher of a week it’s been! Happy Father’s Day!
Yesterday was spent celebrating all the amazing fathers grandfathers. stepfathers. uncles and father figures who have shared their love, wisdom and stories.
Residents tried tying ties to see if they could remember how, laughed at dad jokes like:
'I told mum I'd call her later but she said she'd rather be called Mum'
We created a memory wall where residents & families were invited to write a favourite memory, funny story or something they loved about their father or special father figure.
All topped off with a treat trolley going around the home.

We couldn’t go to Ascot, so we brought Ascot to Skylark!We had a great afternoon at the races!
