“Listening is a complete act; the very act of listening brings its own freedom.”- Krishnamurti.

Is listening merely receiving information? Or, is it an act, as Krishnamurti suggests?

What if we simply listen, without interpreting, judging, agreeing or disagreeing, without trying to change anything?

What if as we come into a posture, instead of immediately thinking: Am I doing this correctly? Is my alignment right? Is someone else doing it better? — we direct our attention to listening:

🌷Listen to the breath.
🌷Listen to the sensations in the body.
🌷Listen to where there is ease, and where there is resistance.
🌷And perhaps even listen to the mind — without needing to follow every thought.

This kind of listening is not passive. It is very awake.

Awakening and listening to us all 😊! Welcome to our Mysore space - what a great opportunity to practise listening!

Namaste,
Irina

Every first Saturday of the month, we meet for our joint Sanskrit Counted Ashtanga Vinyasa class, breathing and moving in unison. Sometimes, if some practitioners don’t feel up to the strenuous Sanskrit-counted class, we simply switch to our favourite Mysore style – one-to-one guidance within a small group, where everyone practises at their own pace.

Then we do one of our favourite things: heading to Artelisi Mediterranean Café for an indulgent yet healthy breakfast. We talk, we share, we laugh, and sometimes we cry too. Friendships grow, stories are exchanged, and our little yoga community becomes just that little bit stronger.

Thank you for being part of our community.
If you’ve been thinking about joining us, we’d love to welcome you.

Namaste and smiles,
Irina 🤍

✨ Iriness student experiences ✨

🧘‍♀️ What do students and teachers value about being part of the Iriness community?

For Rich, what stands out most is the genuine connection. He shares that at Iriness, you don’t just turn up for exercise and leave without speaking to
anyone. Here, friendships naturally form between students and teachers alike. They go out for meals together, celebrate at parties, and travel on
retreats to Greece. For him, it’s not only about yoga — it’s about the whole experience of being part of something meaningful.

Lisa values the diversity of the community. Through Iriness, she has met people she would never otherwise have crossed paths with — different ages,
different backgrounds, all walks of life, and many interesting individuals.

For Ben, what makes Iriness different is that it doesn’t function like a typical class or gym. It feels like a true community. People return week after week, the door is always open, and everyone is warmly welcomed back. It’s not simply somewhere you pay to attend — it’s somewhere you belong.

Mysore Ashtanga Vinyasa is a practice of returning — to breath, to presence, to what is essential.

Through consistency and awareness, movement becomes meditation, and practice becomes inquiry.

Grateful for the Iriness yogis and this shared field of exploration.

New workshop
Finishing Sequence of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
11th July | Saturday | 10:30 – 12:30

If you practise Ashtanga, you probably know the Finishing Sequence is often rushed or overlooked – yet it holds so much depth.

In this workshop, we’ll slow it down and explore its intention, technique, and subtle intelligence. We’ll start with the preamble – Urdhva Dhanurasana and maybe even Handstand 😉 – and continue into the Finishing sequence: various Shoulderstands and Headstand.

More than “the end” of practice, it is a powerful transition that prepares the body and mind for pranayama, meditation, and deep rest.

Open to all levels of yoga asana practitioners and teachers – whether you want to refine, understand, or simply reconnect with this essential part of practice.

Days of Iriness life:

Some of us mastered Lotus Pose for the very first time.

Others kissed their toes for the first time in 50 years!

Some climbed snowy mountains, others ran marathons.

And all of us shared a love for good breakfasts, great yoga chats, and plenty of laughs along the way.

Thank you for the joy of being part of such a wonderful community. 💛🙏

Almost full. 💕

A few spaces remain for our next Yoga Retreat in Greek paradise — the spectacular Limeni village, in the heart of the Peloponnese, 10th to 17th of September.

Morning yoga. Crystal-clear swims. Long Greek brunches. Soulful conversations. Gentle evening practices. Fiery sunsets. Deep rest. Profound stillness.

A remote corner of beauty, where time slows down and life feels wonderfully simple.

This week we have had a special time soaking in the wisdom of a great yogi, Gregor Maehle.

It’s not only the profundity of his knowledge, but also the simplicity and transparency of his personality.

Every time I meet Gregor, I learn something deep that satisfies my intellect, and I also learn something humanly practical, that brings drops of wisdom into my everyday existence.

I am grateful to have Gregor in my life as a teacher, a mentor, and a friend, and for his loving generosity in bringing insight into the lives of everyone who crosses his path. Thank you, dearest Gregor, you are a blessing to so many of us! 🙏🏻💖🙏🏻

Thank you to all the yogis, who have joined us this week, coming from far away lands. 🙏🏻💖🙏🏻

The next workshop with .maehle in Horsham, UK, is already set in motion — 12–13 June 2027, a lovely summer weekend.

Welcome to book your super early bird:

🧘 What do Pranayama & Meditation at Iriness bring to your life? 🧘

Isla, experienced practitioner and yoga teacher, says Irina’s contemplative practices brings her back to her centre – helping her reflect, learn, and deepen awareness. The practices help calm the mind and support her through everyday stress.

Daisy noticed that in challenging moments she now naturally uses yogic tools to self-regulate. Her sense of calm has grown, and she leaves each practice feeling lighter and more grounded.
