The NHS defines an eating disorder as "a mental health condition where you use the control of food to cope with feelings and other situations".

This week (1-7 March 2021), we're celebrating Eating Disorders Awareness Week. A myth about eating disorders is that it is often thought to be a choice. On the contrary, eating disorders are psychiatric disorders influenced by genetics, biological, social and environmental factors.

“Merry Christmas!”, “Tis’ the season to be jolly!”

Christmas is a time where family and friends gather to spend time together, putting away any differences, at least for one day. There is food, laughter, joy and dances! But unfortunately, Christmas may be the opposite for some. It may be one of the hardest days of someone’s life because of the way it may affect their mental health due to past traumas, or accessibility to services or too much pressure.

It is important to know that you are not alone this Christmas. ♥️

If you’re feeling down this Christmas, get in touch to get help. Merry Christmas.🎄✨

Adolescence (from 10-19 years) is a very important stage of an individual as they develop social and emotional habits to maintain a healthy well-being. There are different factors that determine mental health outcomes, such as exposure to poverty, abuse, or violence. ⠀

An estimation of 10-20% of adolescents are said to be suffering from mental health but have not been diagnosed or treated.⠀

You may have been underdiagnosed in the past or may have been surrounded by friends who have been undertreated. It is important to address it avoiding over-medicalisation and instead prioritising non-pharmaceutical approaches.⠀

You never fully know what goes on in someone’s life. Be nice and show love to one another.⠀

Can you recall a time where a friend of yours showed signs of extreme irritation, frustration or anger and not fully understanding why?⠀

Share your experience with us! ⬇️⠀

Stay tuned for a surprise! ✨⠀
