Your eyes age. That part’s unavoidable. What isn’t unavoidable is how fast. 👁️
Most people assume eye health is just genetics and luck. In reality, a surprising amount of it comes down to habits, small ones you probably don’t think twice about.
Skipping sunglasses lets UV damage build quietly over decades, speeding up cataracts and changes to the surface of the eye. Hours on screens without a break drop your blink rate and leave your eyes dry and strained. Rubbing your eyes feels good in the moment but repeated hard rubbing can weaken the cornea over time. And sleeping in contact lenses starves the cornea of oxygen exactly when bacteria are most welcome.
Then there’s the biggest one: not getting your eyes checked. Most serious eye conditions are completely silent in the early stages. No pain, no obvious symptoms. By the time you notice something, changes have often been developing for years.
None of this is about being perfect. It’s about knowing which small things actually matter, and giving your eyes a fighting chance at staying sharp for longer.
Your eyes have to last you a lifetime. Worth looking after.
