Radiesse is one of the most versatile treatments we have because it works in two completely different ways, and most people have no idea it can do both.

What makes it so interesting is that it isn’t a hyaluronic acid filler at all. It’s calcium hydroxyapatite, which means it does something quite different beneath the surface. On the one hand, you can use it much like a filler to create structure and support, restore the cheeks, define the jawline, or support the marionette area. You get that immediate result from the product itself.

But here’s where the magic lies ✨️ As the calcium hydroxyapatite gradually breaks down, it stimulates your own collagen production, so the result doesn’t just sit there; it continues to improve and last over time. That combination of instant structure and long-term collagen stimulation is exactly why I find you’d need around two syringes of traditional filler to achieve what Radiesse can.

It can also be hyper-diluted and fanned under the skin to firm, strengthen and stimulate collagen more broadly, improving skin quality rather than just adding support. Two treatments in one, essentially!

Dark circles and eye bags are probably the concern I get asked about most in clinic, and they’re also where I see people spending the most money on things that were never going to touch the problem.

The reason nothing at home works is that it’s not a skincare issue. Dark circles are usually about hollowing beneath the eye creating shadow, and eye bags develop as the tissue that holds the fat pads in place gradually weakens.

What we’d actually recommend depends entirely on what’s driving it for that individual patient.

Tear trough filler, polynucleotides, Profhilo, and medical grade skincare are all things we draw from, and it’s usually a combination rather than one single treatment that gets the best result.

Those are just examples of where we might start.

The lower face is one of the areas that changes most noticeably with age, and also one of the most complex to treat well.

Jowling, deepening folds, loss of definition through the jawline, and a gradual shift in skin quality often happen at the same time, which is why addressing one thing in isolation rarely gives the result you want.

What we're looking at here is a combination approach, though the exact plan always depends on what's actually happening in that individual's face.

That might mean using Radiesse or dermal filler to restore structure, Sculptra to rebuild collagen over time, or treatments like microneedling and PRP to improve the quality of the skin itself.
