We're blooming over the moon to hear that our Wellbeing Garden at HRI has been shortlisted in the Landscape Institute Awards.

Funded by our amazing Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Charity, over the past two years its been a place for our colleagues, patients and visitors to recharge away from our busy hospital.

We're so pleased, we may have to do a little (rain) dance!

✨ £12,255 Raised! ✨

We recently caught up with our incredible Maternity Team to reveal the final fundraising total from their Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in June.

Thanks to their determination, teamwork and the generosity of everyone who supported them, they raised an amazing £12,255 for our Maternity Bereavement Appeal. 🧡

This incredible total will help us create a purpose-built facility where families experiencing baby loss can receive the privacy, comfort and compassionate care they deserve, while supporting our Maternity Team to continue delivering outstanding bereavement care.

A huge thank you to every member of the team, and everyone who donated, encouraged and cheered them on along the way. Together, you're helping to make a lasting difference for local families during some of their most difficult moments.

👟 Congratulations to our Helen Rees, who will be pulling on her running shoes next year after being surprised with a coveted place in the 2027 Double TCS London Marathon by our Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Charity.

Helen said: "I've been running for several years and completed a number of half marathons, but despite entering the ballot around seven times, I've always received the rejection email. To finally get a place is fantastic, and the fact that I'll be running for CHFT Charity makes it even more special."

Our lovely volunteer, Phil Hellawell celebrated his 80th birthday last week – on a shift in the Emergency Department at Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH).

Phil has been supporting teams at CRH for the past six years and says volunteering has been the "bedrock" of his life since the loss of his wife.

He also said that on his milestone birthday “there was nowhere he'd rather be than on shift in our Emergency Department”. You can read more on our website https://buff.ly/lgO9qYO

Thank you for all you do Phil.

The main entrance at Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) is temporarily closed until early October.

If you are coming to CRH you will need to use the Hospital Service Entrance on Dudwell Lane, the Women and Children’s entrance, or the hospital entrance from the A&E car park.

Drop offs, pick-ups, and taxis must use the Hospital Service Entrance on Dudwell Lane. You can still drop off at the main entrance if you are coming to the Birth Centre.

The temporary closure is so that we can widen the entrance way and install vehicle security bollards. It will make it easier for people to get in and out of the hospital entrance once the new multi-storey car park opens in early Autumn.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this essential work.

To improve patient privacy, dignity, safety and overall experience, the Women's Health Corridor, which runs between Ward 11 and the plaster room/main radiology department on Huddersfield Royal Infirmary’s Lower Ground Floor, will be closed as a throughfare route from today, Monday 10 August.

Please use an alternative route through the hospital, such as the main corridor on the ground floor or the corridor on the basement levels.

Thank you for your support.
