✨️🧠 Just casually holding the thing you’ve been blaming yourself for without ever understanding what is going on... 🧠✨️
Most of what you call overreacting, shutting down, overthinking, or self‑sabotage is actually your survival brain (subconscious) doing its job. It works fast, automatically, and without your permission. It’s the part of your brain that is always trying to protect you. It scans for danger, seeks familiar patterns, and reacts before you even realise what is happening.
The front part of you brain, your prefrontal cortex (conscious) responds after the survival brain. It’s responsible for planning, calm decision‑making, perspective, and logic. It is more positive and rational. But it can only kick in when your body feels safe enough for it to stay switched on. So when you freeze, avoid, panic, shut down, or get overwhelmed, it’s not because there is something wrong with you. It’s your survival brain taking over because it thinks it’s protecting you.
No one ever explains this stuff... that your conscious brain isn’t in charge when your nervous system feels threatened.
Once you understand the difference between these parts of your brain, everything starts making sense. You no longer question your patters, your triggers and you stop asking yourself ‘why am I like this?’ Instead you ask yourself 'who do I want to become?'
Having this understanding is a brain changer in itself, and is just a part of all the amazing stuff we cover in sessions together. Everything is intentionally done to show your brain and nervous system the alteratives and to give them safety.
➡️ What difference might it make for you to realise all of this?
