Calm Arrivals Hypnobirthing Birth Doula and Hypnobirthing Specialist- supporting you through pregnancy, birth and early motherhood. Newbury, West Berkshire and beyond ✨

Hi, I’m Daisy and I’m a registered Hypnobirthing teacher, mum to 3 very lively little boys, and totally obsessed with the power of birth! My hypnobirthing journey began with the births of my boys- my first birth on paper was a great birth, but how I felt about it was different- when I was pregnant with my second baby I was determined to have an empowering birth, and to be able to look back on the

day with joy. Hypnobirthing made this possible for me. With each of my births I have become more and more fascinated with pregnancy and the process of birth- woman really are incredible. I am passionate about sharing the knowledge, skills and techniques to enable other woman and families to have the most positive and empowering experience they possibly can, however they birth. Hypnobirthing is a logical and practical antenatal course. It is a complete antenatal education providing you with the tools and techniques to help you birth your baby safely and gently. It is a process of letting go, reducing any fears, preconceived assumptions you may have about birth , and empowering you and your birth partner, which will have the most profound effect on you, your partner and your baby which will last a lifetime. The benefits to Hypnobirthing are countless, for you, your birth partner and the long term benefits for baby. To be able to look back on your birth as a positive experience, however you birth, is something you will cherish always. We offer bespoke packages to suit you and to provide you with the best possible positive birth education, taught either in small groups or as private courses. There is no ideal time to start- many woman wait until around week 25-30 of pregnancy. This allows you time to practise and fully perfect the techniques. However, some woman begin their pregnancy with long ingrained fears and negative associations around birth and benefit from attending much earlier in their pregnancy. Equally, some woman do not discover KG Hypnobirthing until much later and they still benefit enormously. The full course is 12 hours of teaching time- it is jam packed with information. And of course, time for tea, chats and yummy treats! All bookings are followed by a discovery call with myself where we have a brief chat and I can get to you know and understand your thoughts and feelings a little more. Please drop me a DM so we can chat further about how I can support you on your journey!

My youngest turned 6 today 🥹

So naturally I’ve been reflecting on this time 6 years ago, and what I’d keep reminding myself in labour …

“Every contraction ends”

“I can do another one”

“One step closer to meeting my baby”

When each contraction ends, say these to yourself (either out loud or in your head) —- it keeps your mental game strong which makes all the difference ✨✨

Little May Half Term photo dump
We managed to have one of those weeks where life is hitting all the sweet spots. The weather was glorious, the biggest was going off paddle boarding with all his village friends, we had time to play, rest, read, eat and have 1 on 1 time. I couldn’t of asked for more ✨✨

Now to squeeze in all the work before a summer of adventure

Story time.
How does my boys running event have anything to do with birth???

I wanted to tell you a little story from my weekend and why it’s an important lessons for birth…
My boys yesterday took part in a run, and before they started I said to them “When it feels hard, you say to yourself- I can do hard things”

Imagine how hard it would be for a runner or athlete to do an entire event talking to themselves negatively, doubting themselves, telling themselves they couldn’t do it…

And if their support team were holding up signs saying “this looks hard, are you ok” “maybe you should stop” “you haven’t got this in you” -it would be most impossible to finish that event.

This is what you need to bring into your birth. If you are planning a physiological (vaginal) birth, especially if maybe hoping to go drug free, your mental game needs to be SO strong. You need to be telling yourself “I’ve got this, I can do hard things, I was made for this, yes- another contraction, that’s one step closer, I can do anything for 60 seconds”

And when you wobble, and struggle, that’s when your birth team need to be able to step in and cheer you on. It is so important that they are talking to you positively, affirming to you the whole way through that you can do this. It can be the one thing that gets you through.

Do not overlook your mindset work, your mental game needs to be STRONG and your support team absolute cheerleaders 💪

Let’s talk about this one. I get it- I do. I did that standard antenatal course (which I don’t regret and really enjoyed) but I did not come away from that course prepared for what was to come. At all.

If you aren’t coming out of your antenatal course with a deep understanding of your body and its insane wisdom and power, with the knowledge of birth physiology and what’s actually going on in there, of the importance of nervous system regulation and creating a strong mindset, with a toolkit of proper comfort measures, let alone how your birth partner can confidently support you, how the maternity system works, the reasons for a process of induction and caesarean births- and how to make these personal, positive experiences, how to take gentle care of yourself in early motherhood, then truthfully friend you are doing yourself the biggest disservice.

Properly preparing yourself for the birth of your baby is the biggest gift you can give yourself, and them.

Join my next group course (July) or send me a DM and lets chat about how I can support you through your pregnancy and birth ✨✨
