Last night (in my class) I gave my students a structure containing techniques, then created a situation where they had to use that vocabulary:
attack
defend
change roles
respond to the partner
feel where the body needs to go
explore how the movement is generated
adapt rather than simply reproduce
And importantly, I told them:
"This isn't a set routine. We're creating an opportunity to play."
That's a lovely teaching distinction.
Because once someone stops trying to remember "What comes next?", they can start asking:
"What's happening now?"
And that is Kung Fu.

Hokey doke (Monday Yin)

Tonight will be us going through the 11 tong ling exercises. Well, as many as time will allow.......... Again as in not rushing (7 breathes or 14 pairs of)
I want you to react to your body/breath/sensations calmly, subtly.

Towards the end, for those who Shuang Yang, please calmly go into your walking/bow stance meditation (Ma Bu, 3 steps, Ma Bu, 3 steps).

Shuang Yang - I'd like to start with Paul, Ed & Loretta ( then all together, then we break into practice).

Kungfu portion of tonight.

I'd like to continue with our partner contact. Yin knocking arms (keep the energy down), we work with the shaolin punch 👊, inner crane block - into back fist ✊

This allows us to explore drills, we will return to a previous drill first.

Hello people.

Tonight will begin with YOU going into walking stance.

Remembering that this isn't a walking meditation. This is you grounding your feet, transferring into the stance. 60% weight in the back leg.

10 times

Then Bow Stance - 10 times
60% front leg.

Relaxing into the pelvis. Spine upright.

Chin in. Neck long at the back.

We then warm up together.
Line work. Various styles.

Partner resistance
& Knocking arms.

Back part will look at reaction/timing and applications - into sticky hands.

Cool down and stretch

At 10:15am to 11.05am
Thursdays for my Qi Gong - walk in £8.00

We focus on what we feel, not dismissing what we have brought to the session, but allowing our mind, body and Chi (Qi) to renew, be redirected and allow the eastern traditions to coincide with western progression.

We move to the 11 exercises of Tong Ling
We walk with mindfulness
& we breathe in stillness as well as flow.
Or £28.00 for block of 4

Later on Thursdays @ 1830 The Lantern.
My Yang ☯️ energy Kung Fu class
£8.00

A little insight of how somebody who helps others, helps themself. Posterior chain fighting against a tight anterior chain and the way that we establish balance in the force, no seriously restoring balance within our alignment of our body.

I admit defeat, I want to be honest, my body is so inflamed with this heat!! This isn't a Peter Kay moment, where I go on about the weather........ This is professional stuff.

Do not underestimate the physical reactions to prolonged heat. If you feel swollen, severe aching, headaches, fatigue, compression!!!

Please take those cooler showers more frequently, don't allow your environment to leave you feeling broken, sad or depressed because you're not managing.

I have never made the connection and have mostly thought acclimatising or the time to acclimatise would be key!!

No, be careful, be wise with your hydration, but care for your ability to regulate.

The body is working so hard, harder than usual.

Heatstroke, dehydration, lethargy yes, but feeling crap, in pain, swollen and achy are symptoms you should not ignore!!!
