🍂🦔 Autumn has arrived! 🦔🍂

Now that the warmer weather seems to have disappeared, our residents have been getting creative with some lovely autumn-themed crafts! 🍁

They’ve been collecting fallen leaves and using colourful tissue paper to make their very own hedgehogs — and they’ve been a big hit! 😊

Craft activities like this are a great way to encourage creativity, conversation and social interaction, while also supporting fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

For those living with dementia, activities like these can provide meaningful engagement, stimulate the senses, encourage memories and give a wonderful sense of achievement. ❤️

Most importantly, we’ve had lots of fun creating them together! 🦔🍂

🍳 WE’RE HIRING – COOK ‍👨‍🍳

Are you passionate about cooking and looking to join a friendly, fun and supportive team? ❤️

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Cook to join our growing team at Seaview Haven, Ilfracombe.

Working alongside our Head Cook, you’ll help prepare breakfast, lunch and supper for our residents, taking pride in creating enjoyable, nutritious meals.

✨ What we’re looking for:

A friendly and motivated person
Someone with a positive, “can-do” attitude
Good communication and interpersonal skills
A real pride in their work
Food Hygiene experience/training is desirable

🎁 What we offer:
- Permanent position
- Fun and supportive working environment
- Uniform provided
- 28 days’ holiday (pro rata)

📅 Weekend and bank holiday availability will be required, along with occasional holiday/sickness cover.

An enhanced DBS and two satisfactory references will be required.

📍 Location: Seaview Haven, Ilfracombe

Our lovely Lucia has been keeping our residents active with some gentle Keep Fit! 💪💗

Using gentle resistance bands, Lucia has been encouraging our residents to get moving in a fun, safe and enjoyable way. Resistance band exercises are a fantastic way to help maintain strength, flexibility and mobility, while also supporting balance and coordination. 🌟

Keeping active is so important for our care home residents as it can help with confidence, independence and overall wellbeing, as well as providing a lovely opportunity to socialise, have fun and enjoy being active together. 😊

🌟 A Doris Day Tribute is coming to Seaview Haven! 🌟
Join us on Wednesday 26th August at 2pm for a fabulous afternoon celebrating the wonderful music of Doris Day! 🎶💃

We would love to welcome our residents’ family and friends to come along and enjoy the afternoon with them. ❤️ Children are always welcome!

There will be singing, dancing, drinks and delicious snacks — everything you need for a lovely afternoon together! 🥂🍰🎵

And, of course, we’ll be singing along to some classic Doris Day favourites, including “Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be…” 🎶✨

We can’t wait to see you there! 💕

☀️ Staying cool the creative way! ☀️

Our wonderful Activity Co-ordinator, Jacquie, has been helping our residents keep cool by making some FANtastic fans!

There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and creativity as everyone enjoyed decorating their own unique fans. Not only are they perfect for keeping cool on these warm days, but craft activities are also a fantastic way to keep hands busy, support fine motor skills, encourage creativity, and give a real sense of pride and achievement.

Getting together for group activities is just as important too. It's a wonderful opportunity for residents to socialise, share stories, support one another, and enjoy spending quality time together. Moments like these help build friendships, boost wellbeing, and create happy memories.

Our residents have been up bright and early today, giving our patio space a lovely tidy-up and getting stuck into some gardening! 🌼🌿

Gardening is a wonderful activity for people living with dementia. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, encourage gentle physical activity, stimulate the senses, bring back happy memories, and provide a real sense of purpose and achievement. Most importantly, it's a great way to enjoy the outdoors and spend quality time together.

As we continue to brighten up our outdoor space, we would be so grateful for any donations of seeds, plants, or flowers. Every little bit helps us create a beautiful, relaxing garden for our residents to enjoy. 🌸🌱

💙 Your Feedback Means So Much to Us 💙

At the heart of everything we do is providing the very best care for our residents, and that's why we'd love to hear from you.

We've recently sent out our Quality Assurance Questionnaire to residents' family members, and we'd be so grateful if you could spare just 5 minutes to complete it.

We genuinely want to know what we're doing well and where we can do even better. Your feedback helps us improve the care we provide, review our practices, and identify any training or changes that will make a positive difference for our residents and their families.

📧 We've emailed the questionnaire to families, and paper copies are also available at reception if you'd prefer to complete one during your visit.

If you'd like to remain anonymous, simply fill in a paper copy and pop it into the Employee of the Month box at reception.

Every comment, suggestion, and kind word helps us grow and improve. Thank you for taking the time to support us—it really does mean the world to our team and the people we care for. 💙
