☀️ Staying cool the creative way! ☀️

Our wonderful Activity Co-ordinator, Jacquie, has been helping our residents keep cool by making some FANtastic fans!

There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and creativity as everyone enjoyed decorating their own unique fans. Not only are they perfect for keeping cool on these warm days, but craft activities are also a fantastic way to keep hands busy, support fine motor skills, encourage creativity, and give a real sense of pride and achievement.

Getting together for group activities is just as important too. It's a wonderful opportunity for residents to socialise, share stories, support one another, and enjoy spending quality time together. Moments like these help build friendships, boost wellbeing, and create happy memories.

A huge well done to everyone who took part – we think your creations are absolutely FANtastic! ☀️

Our residents have been up bright and early today, giving our patio space a lovely tidy-up and getting stuck into some gardening! 🌼🌿

Gardening is a wonderful activity for people living with dementia. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, encourage gentle physical activity, stimulate the senses, bring back happy memories, and provide a real sense of purpose and achievement. Most importantly, it's a great way to enjoy the outdoors and spend quality time together.

As we continue to brighten up our outdoor space, we would be so grateful for any donations of seeds, plants, or flowers. Every little bit helps us create a beautiful, relaxing garden for our residents to enjoy. 🌸🌱

💙 Your Feedback Means So Much to Us 💙

At the heart of everything we do is providing the very best care for our residents, and that's why we'd love to hear from you.

We've recently sent out our Quality Assurance Questionnaire to residents' family members, and we'd be so grateful if you could spare just 5 minutes to complete it.

We genuinely want to know what we're doing well and where we can do even better. Your feedback helps us improve the care we provide, review our practices, and identify any training or changes that will make a positive difference for our residents and their families.

📧 We've emailed the questionnaire to families, and paper copies are also available at reception if you'd prefer to complete one during your visit.

If you'd like to remain anonymous, simply fill in a paper copy and pop it into the Employee of the Month box at reception.

Every comment, suggestion, and kind word helps us grow and improve. Thank you for taking the time to support us—it really does mean the world to our team and the people we care for. 💙

Our residents have been making the most of the beautiful sunshine, enjoying some time outdoors during the cooler parts of the day. 🌞

With the recent hot weather, we've been making sure everyone stays safe and comfortable by avoiding the outdoors during the hottest parts of the day and instead enjoying our garden during the cooler morning and late afternoon hours. We’ve also been keeping hydrated, finding plenty of shade, and treating ourselves to some delicious ice lollies to help keep cool! 🍦😋

There’s nothing quite like sitting in the fresh air, chatting about the weather, admiring the view, sharing stories, and enjoying a lovely cuppa tea with a few biscuits. What more could you ask for? ☕🍪

We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful outdoor space for our residents to enjoy. The views are simply stunning, overlooking Ilfracombe, across towards the Torrs, and out to the sea. 🌊

Spending time outdoors in the fresh air has so many benefits, helping to boost mood, encourage social interaction, and support overall wellbeing. It's always lovely to see our residents relaxing, reminiscing, and enjoying the beauty that surrounds us while making the most of the summer weather safely.

Last week, some of our residents enjoyed a wonderful bus trip to the beautiful Lynton and Lynmouth.

The residents enjoyed a scenic drive through the stunning Valley of Rocks before heading down to Lynmouth, where everyone had the chance to enjoy a delicious ice cream while taking in the seaside atmosphere. 🍦☀️

For some of our residents, these were familiar places filled with happy memories from years gone by, while for others it was their very first visit. It was lovely to see the excitement and enjoyment as they explored somewhere new and shared stories with one another.

Everyone had a fantastic day, and we look forward to more outings now the weather is getting warmer! 💙

We were delighted to welcome Theresa Powell to Seaview Haven, where she led a lovely church service for some of our residents.

It was wonderful to see so many residents come together to enjoy the service, bringing comfort, connection, and a sense of community. The response was so positive that many residents have already asked if they can sing hymns during future services!

Activities like these can have a significant positive impact on residential care, helping residents maintain their spiritual wellbeing, social connections, and sense of purpose. For people living with dementia, familiar faith-based activities, music, and hymns can often evoke cherished memories, provide reassurance, and encourage meaningful engagement.

We're pleased to share that this will now become a regular event at Seaview Haven, taking place on the first Friday of every month. We look forward to welcoming Theresa back and creating many more special moments together.

A huge thank you to Theresa for spending time with our residents and making the service so enjoyable. We can't wait to welcome you back next month! 💙
