We were delighted to welcome Theresa Powell to Seaview Haven, where she led a lovely church service for some of our residents.

It was wonderful to see so many residents come together to enjoy the service, bringing comfort, connection, and a sense of community. The response was so positive that many residents have already asked if they can sing hymns during future services!

Activities like these can have a significant positive impact on residential care, helping residents maintain their spiritual wellbeing, social connections, and sense of purpose. For people living with dementia, familiar faith-based activities, music, and hymns can often evoke cherished memories, provide reassurance, and encourage meaningful engagement.

We're pleased to share that this will now become a regular event at Seaview Haven, taking place on the first Friday of every month. We look forward to welcoming Theresa back and creating many more special moments together.

A huge thank you to Theresa for spending time with our residents and making the service so enjoyable. We can't wait to welcome you back next month! 💙

A little while ago, we planted some strawberry plants in our garden, and our residents have been taking great care of them by making sure they are watered and well looked after.

A few days ago, one of our residents went out to water the plants and was delighted to discover the very first strawberry of the year ready to be picked and enjoyed! 🍓

Gardening is a wonderful activity for our residents and alot of the residents love it! It encourages gentle physical activity, provides a sense of purpose and achievement, and offers opportunities to spend time outdoors in the fresh air. Watching plants grow from seed to harvest can be incredibly rewarding, helping to support wellbeing, stimulate the senses, and create meaningful moments to share with others.

We can't wait to see what else our strawberry plants produce this season!

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Ricky Tucker to perform for our residents, their friends, family, and our staff — what a wonderful afternoon it was! 🎶✨

The residents loved every second of the performance. There was singing, dancing, toe-tapping, and plenty of clapping along 👏💃🎤 It was heartwarming to see so many smiles and everyone enjoying themselves together 😊

Music can have such a positive impact in care homes, especially for people living with dementia. Familiar songs can spark memories, encourage communication, reduce anxiety, and lift mood ❤️ Music also brings people together, creating moments of joy, connection, and comfort for residents, families, and staff alike.

A huge thank you to Ricky for spending the afternoon with us and making it such a special occasion 🌟 We are already looking forward to the next visit! 🎵

These are just some of the wonderful activities our residents have been enjoying recently 🌸🏒🧩

From flower arranging and table hockey to matching pictures with words, every activity is thoughtfully planned around our residents’ individual needs, interests, and abilities. Activities within our home are so much more than just keeping busy — they play an important role in supporting overall wellbeing and quality of life.

Engaging in meaningful activities can help to encourage independence, improve confidence and self-esteem, stimulate memory and cognitive skills, support mobility and coordination, and reduce feelings of isolation or anxiety. Group activities also provide valuable opportunities for social interaction, laughter, conversation, and building friendships within the home.

Whether it’s a creative activity, a gentle physical game, or a memory-based task, we always aim to create moments of joy, purpose, and achievement for every resident 💛

We love seeing everyone getting involved, supporting one another, and most importantly having fun together 😊

We are getting ready to celebrate May Day! 🌸🌿

Our residents have been collecting leaves and creating beautiful May Day crafts together. Crafting with leaves is a wonderful sensory activity—it encourages touch, sight, and creativity while helping to spark memories and conversations. For those living with dementia, these hands-on activities can support cognitive function, reduce anxiety, and promote a sense of calm and accomplishment.

We love seeing the smiles and creativity bloom this time of year! 💚

🌍 Happy Earth Day! 🌿

Here at Seaview Haven, we’re proud to do our bit to help care for our planet 💚

We recycle as much as we can, with clearly labelled bins on every floor so our staff, visitors, and residents can all play their part. We also encourage simple everyday actions like switching off lights when they’re not in use, reducing waste where possible, and being mindful of energy and water use throughout the home.

One of our favourite ways to celebrate sustainability is through creative activities ♻️✨ Using recycled materials for crafts not only helps reduce waste, but also brings so much joy to our residents. It’s a wonderful way to get creative, stay engaged, and do something positive for the environment at the same time.

Today, we’re celebrating the small changes that make a big difference 🌎💙

Some of our residents gathered on the Mortehoe floor earlier today to watch the Spitfires fly overhead ✈️

They absolutely loved listening for that iconic sound and seeing them pass by — such a special moment for everyone. It was a real treat!

We’re also incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic view from the top floor, making experiences like this even more memorable 💙

One of our wonderful carers on the Lynmouth floor has been busy pampering our lovely residents 💅

Taking the time to sit, chat, and share a little bit of self-care has brought so many smiles. From beautifully painted nails to moments of laughter and connection, it’s these small but meaningful gestures that truly brighten someone’s day.

It’s the little things like this that make such a big difference to our residents’ self-esteem and provide a real confidence boost. Feeling cared for, valued, and listened to can have such a positive impact on wellbeing, and it’s something we always strive to create every single day.

Thank you to our carers for taking the time to care so thoughtfully for our residents and for always showing such kindness, compassion, and dedication. Your efforts never go unnoticed, and you make a real difference to the lives of those around you 💖
