Sam's Fife is a peer support service that is based around Fife Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon each week.

Sam's has opened at the Inverkeithing Civic Centre on Fridays 11am-7pm.

Walk-in service
No need for an appointment or referral
Peer workers employed by SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health)
Support people aged 16 years plus (& no longer in school education)
Attend anytime 11am-7pm, support starts with what is important to the person that day.
Sam's is wholly peer support

⭐️ Dementia awareness month ⭐️

👂 untreated hearing loss has been proven as a risk factor for dementia so act on it don’t ignore it!

👂 if you think your hearing is reducing don’t be embarrassed - find out about getting a hearing check and the options are for help

👂waxy ears can be a common cause- drops from the pharmacy can be obtained without prescription and are highly effective

👂 some high street shops offer wax removal for a fee but the NHS also provide services for this

👂 high street shops can offer FREE hearing tests

👂 if you have hearing concerns and think you might need a test then please make a routine appointment to speak to one of the clinical team

This is one of more simple things that might help reduce the risk of dementia - so don’t feel proud or embarrassed- seek help! ❤️

September is Alzheimer’s awareness month

⭐️ nearly 1 million people in the UK suffer from some form of memory problem
⭐️ it affects 1 in 6 people over the age of 80
⭐️ it has wider impacts on family, friends, colleagues and loved ones

During September the practice will be raising awareness and providing information on support available for those with dementia and those who care for them during what can be a heartbreaking illness

Due to the Lamas Fair taking place over the period 4 - 8 Aug 26, there will be road closures in Inverkeithing. Please can we ask patients to keep this in mind when travelling to appointments at Inverkeithing Health Centre.
