🌿 WHY IS YOUR PELVIC FLOOR SO IMPORTANT?
We often hear about strengthening our core, stretching our muscles and looking after our posture — but one area that deserves much more attention is the pelvic floor.
Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles and connective tissues at the base of your pelvis. It plays an important role in everyday health and function.
✨ What does the pelvic floor do?
The pelvic floor helps to:
• Support the bladder, bowel and reproductive organs
• Control bladder and bowel function
• Contribute to continence
• Support the stability of your pelvis and core
• Work together with your diaphragm and abdominal muscles to manage pressure inside the abdomen
• Contribute to sexual function and sensation
• Support you during activities such as coughing, sneezing, lifting, exercising and even laughing
💡 And pelvic floor problems aren't only something that happens after childbirth.
Pelvic floor muscles can become weak, overactive or poorly coordinated for many different reasons, including pregnancy and childbirth, ageing, hormonal changes, chronic coughing, constipation, certain types of exercise and prolonged straining.
Interestingly, stronger isn't always better. A pelvic floor that is constantly tense and unable to relax can also cause problems. Good pelvic floor function is about being able to contract AND relax appropriately.
🌸 Why am I talking about this now?
I’m currently preparing to introduce a new treatment option at Naturall Touch — the Better Pelvi Chair.
Before I start talking about the chair itself, I wanted to explain something much more important:
Understanding your pelvic floor and looking after it should be part of your overall health — not something we only think about when a problem appears.
Over the next few posts, I'll explain more about pelvic floor health, who may benefit from pelvic floor training and what the Better Pelvi Chair is designed to do.
💚 Your pelvic floor is working for you every single day. It deserves some attention too.

Pelvic floor concerns can have many causes. If you experience pain, urinary or bowel problems, pelvic heaviness or other persistent symptoms, speak to an appropriate healthcare professional for assessment.
