Cairn Medical Practice

Cairn Medical Practice A medium sized (circa 10,000 patients) friendly, family practice with 12 GPs based in Inverness close to the city centre.

Cairn is a busy, urban practice located a 10 minute walk from Inverness City centre. We have approximately 9900 patients, serviced by 10 doctors, 2 advanced pharmacists, advanced nurse practitioner, 2 nurses and a Healthcare Assistant. Our building is on two floors with no lift access. The building is accessible at ground floor level for wheelchair users and patients with other disabilities. For p

atients who cannot use the stairs, we can make arrangements for you to be seen in a ground floor consulting room. Please let us know when booking your appointment if you need to be seen downstairs

Cairn is a training practice; we participate in the education of doctors and other healthcare staff at all levels, from university students to qualified doctors who are specialising as GPs. Occasionally, there may be a student or a trainee GP present during consultations. If you are not happy for them to be there then please tell us - you will not offend anyone!

Walk A Mile In Our Shoes - Saturday 4th July 2026 at 11am in Inverness

Join us on the annual Walk a Mile event in Inverness to challenge stigma and raise awareness of mental health issues in the Highlands. Everyone is welcome!

"Reflections" is this year's theme for the 20th anniversary of the festival - so why not use the walk to reflect on what mental health means to you?
Whether you’ve faced challenges yourself, supported someone you love, or simply believe no one should suffer in silence, this walk is for you....
💚 Walk for awareness
🩷 Walk for connection
💜 Walk to show that every journey matters

Bring your friends, your family, your co-workers, and your community spirit. Let’s turn one mile into a movement.
Because understanding begins when we walk beside each other and share conversations.

The route starts at the Fisherman's Hut (corner of Bught Park and Ballifeary House care home) and goes along the river and Ness Walk, crossing the Ness Bridge, up Bridge Street and the High Street to Falcon Square.

We are aiming to start the walk at 11am so please try to arrive a few minutes early.

If you have any queries, please contact the SMHAF HIghland team on [email protected]
