Some of you will remember Cathel who used to help out at our meetings. Great to see this.
When Kevin decided to become a befriending volunteer, he wanted to use his free time to provide one-to-one support.
That decision led to a friendship with Cathel. Before accessing the service, Cathel had not left his house since before Christmas. Now, he and Kevin go out together every week, whatever the weather. They enjoy fresh air, trips to the park and visiting the ducks. 🦆
“I now have something to look forward to every week,” says Cathel. “I get out every week, even when it’s raining.”
Kevin says volunteering has been rewarding for him too. “Seeing the impact that just a few hours a week can have on someone’s life gives a real sense of accomplishment. It also provides the opportunity to meet and interact with people you would probably never come into contact with in everyday life.”
