DMB Car Seats

DMB Car Seats Advising and retailing only the safest car seats on the UK market to keep our little ones safe. I am hoping this page will help with that.

Since having my twins in 2019 I have become a huge advocate for ERF (extended rear facing) of children in car seats. I had to do a lot of research before finding the right seats for my boys as unfortunately this information is not widely available. I am by no means associated or affiliated with any shop, brand or manufacturer and all the information I give here is either stated in the UK law or be

en fully researched before being given as safety advice to parents. A car seat is one of the most important safety products you will ever have to buy for your child, so getting it right is imperative. I'm here to help you make the right decisions the first time so that you are not wasting time and money on the 'wrong' seats.

Double Gold for Axkid 🏆🏆
We’re proud to share that both Zero™️ and Minikid Core have been awarded Gold in the Dadsnet Awards 2026.
Two different car seats created for different stages of childhood, but with the same purpose in mind: protecting children in traffic.
Zero™️ is engineered around newborn anatomy, combining precise support with a lightweight design.
Minikid Core brings extended rear-facing safety together with simple, practical installation for everyday family life.
To have both recognised by the Dadsnet Awards means a great deal to us.
Thank you to everyone who continues to trust Axkid to protect what matters most. 💛

🌞Summer Booking Availability 😎

It's that time of year again where the Scottish Summer Holidays are fast approaching. Due to having 3 young children my availability during this time is limited, so that I can benefit from some family time of my own.

Please see below all available appointments from now until the kids return back to School in August.
There is a change in schedule and lot of appointments that are not my usual working hours will be done ad hoc, so may not be available to book on line. If the date is listed here please drop me a message and I can give you available times.

Most children have big growth spurts during the summer, so I have tried to open the diary more towards the start of school to ensure everyone is travelling in approved seats suitable for their age, height and weight, for the start of the new term.

One of the most important things to note - just because your child is starting P1, does not mean they're ready to move to a high backed booster. Unless they are over 125cm they are still safer travelling rear facing, their bones are still only 4-5 years old. No where near strong enough for the forces of a seatbelt alone. A step up to primary does not necessarily mean it's time for a step down in safety.

There is a difference between the legal minimum and best practice.

Across Europe, UN R129 requires rear-facing travel until at least 15 months. In Sweden, authorities and traffic safety organisations recommend keeping children rear-facing much longer. Transportstyrelsen says children travel safest rear-facing until around four years and recommends rear-facing for as long as possible, while NTF recommends rear-facing to at least 4–5 years, preferably longer.

At Axkid and DMB, we follow the Swedish recommendation because we believe best practice should guide design and advice, not just the legal minimum. For us, that means helping children stay rear-facing for as long as possible and keeping children as safe as possible for as long as possible.

With only a few days left to grab some phenomenal deals on the safest seats on the UK market now is the time to invest in your wee one’s safety and keel then rear facing as long as possible.

🤔Common misconception- ERF seats are too expensive.

This is something we hear regularly on groups.

However one of the most common seats we see on fit check days is the Joie I spin 360.
This seat will harness rear facing to 19kg or 105cm whatever is reached first.
This seat retails at around £200. For many children these limits are outgrown before 4yo and the minimum recommended age to transition to a high backed booster is 4.5-5yo. So we hit a grey area where the child is too big for this seat but their bones are too immature for a seatbelt.

But what if I told you there was an extended rear facing seat, that was Swedish plus tested, and that would keep your child safe to at least 5.5yo (based on a 99th centile child) that costs £199.

Meet the Britax Safeway M2.
Suitable from 61-125cm and up to 36kg this car seat will last almost 3 years longer than the Joie!!!

If you break it down the Joie would cost you £5.88 a month but the Britax only £3.02.

So not only are you getting a longer lasting car seat, higher crash testing and more safety for a longer term. You’re actually saving money overall.

Rear facing doesn’t need to be expensive. There are plenty of options out there to keep your wee ones safer for longer.

Take advantage this rear facing month and opt for a Swedish plus tested car seat.
