This study published in Exercise and Sports Sciences Reviews proposes the beneficial effects of exercise are in part mediated through the prevention and elimination of senescent cells.

Exercise counters multiple forms of age-related molecular damage that initiate the senescence program and activates immune cells responsible for senescent cell clearance. Morning all!!

I hope you all enjoyed the extra hour in bed.

I decided to finish off some changes to my website instead, so heres a heads up that the "Online Stroke Rehab Group" page looks a little different and some of the navigation buttons have changed.

I've included a section about my free Online Stroke Rehab: Fitness 4 Life Physio and Health Coaching Facebook support group, and tried to make the whole page better for new visitors to my website.

Any feedback welcome on here or private message me etc.

Great infographic from ACSM that summarizes the benefits of resistance training as part of a complete exercise program. ALSO, ACSM's Complete Guide to Fitness & Health, 2nd edition has an entire chapter devoted to muscular fitness, including sample programs and pictures/explanations of exercises.

Updated/outdated opinions on "good and bad posture" for health (although I believe there is more relevance to body position and biomechanics when thinking about performance).

A while ago I completed specialist training in chronic pain management with a world leading physio and professor Peter O'Sullivan. He has made me aware of an article he recently published. Here it is...

We’ve all been told our whole lives we need ‘good’ posture: sit up straight, stand straight with shoulders back, and lift by bending the knees. It turns out there’s really no evidence for that advice.
