Yesterday, we said a bittersweet goodbye to our Home Manager, Zachary, who has supported Thurleston House through a period of change over the last year…

To show our appreciation, staff and residents came together to present Zachary with gifts and cards, sharing their thanks for his leadership, dedication, and unwavering support. 💙

While we are sad to see him leave, we are incredibly grateful for everything he has done for our home and the positive impact he has had on our residents and team. He has promised not to be a stranger!

From everyone at Thurleston House, thank you, Zachary. We wish you every success in your next chapter and look forward to seeing you again soon. 💙

There's nothing quite like a good cup of tea and a trip down memory lane! ☕💚

This morning at Thurleston House, we enjoyed a wonderful tea tasting session, sampling a variety of flavours including English Breakfast, Earl Grey, and Peppermint tea.

Residents had the opportunity to compare tastes, share their favourites, and explore some new flavours.

The tasting was followed by a fun tea-themed quiz, sparking plenty of conversation, laughter, and friendly competition. The session also brought back many happy memories, with residents reminiscing about family tea times, favourite tea sets, and cherished moments shared over a cuppa.

A lovely morning filled with great company, fond memories, and of course, plenty of tea! ☕✨

🍪✨ Friday Fun at Thurleston House! ✨🍪

This morning, our residents enjoyed a wonderful biscuit decorating session with Destiny. Armed with colourful icing and plenty of sweeties, everyone got creative and designed their own delicious treats!

There were lots of smiles, laughter, and a little bit of friendly competition as we decorated biscuits ready to enjoy with a well-earned cup of tea. A fun Friday treat that was enjoyed by all! 💕🍬

🤠🌞 What a fantastic day at Thurleston House! 🌞🤠
Today we hosted our Country & Western Themed Summer Fete, and what a joy it was from start to finish!

Our residents, families, friends and visitors enjoyed an incredible afternoon filled with entertainment, great food and wonderful community spirit. We were delighted to welcome Ella’s care home dance entertainment, who wowed everyone with a fantastic line dancing performance, and Manda, who treated us to two beautiful country music sets that had everyone singing along.

We also had a special visit from Doug the Pet Therapy Dog, who brought plenty of smiles, cuddles and joy to our residents. Another huge hit was the wonderful face painting by Destiny, which added even more colour, fun and laughter to the day. 🎨✨

Our talented staff team worked tirelessly throughout the day, serving up a delicious country-themed BBQ featuring burgers, hot dogs, mac and cheese, corn on the cob and much more. 🌭

Our stalls were incredibly popular, including the raffle, tombola, cake stall and plant stall, and we're thrilled to announce that together we raised £255 for our Residents' Activities Fund! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who donated prizes, baked cakes, volunteered their time, helped with set-up and supported the event in any way! And of course a special thanks must also go to our amazing Activities Team for their dedication and hard work in creating such a memorable day for everyone. 🥳

Finally, today was a bittersweet occasion as we said goodbye for now to Liz, who completed her last permanent shift with us before moving on to pastures new. Liz has been a valued member of the Thurleston House family, and whilst we'll miss seeing her every day, we're delighted that she'll be remaining with us as a bank team member. We wish her every success in her new venture and look forward to welcoming her back through our doors soon. ❤️

🧁👩‍🍳 A Spot of Baking with Liz! 👩‍🍳🧁

Our residents recently enjoyed a lovely morning with Liz, baking a delicious batch of homemade brownies. 🍫😋

The aroma of freshly baked chocolate treats soon filled the home as everyone got involved with mixing, stirring, and of course, the most important part – tasting! There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and happy memories made along the way.

Well done to our star bakers and a big thank you to Liz for leading another fantastic session!

🎨⚽ This afternoon at Art Club, the creativity was flowing as we got ready to cheer on the football! 🇬🇧

Our talented residents at Thurleston House created fantastic pictures and heartfelt messages of encouragement for England ahead of the big game tonight. From colourful artwork to words of support, everyone enjoyed showing their team spirit and getting into the excitement of the occasion.

We were all looking forward to the match and are cheering England on every step of the way! Come on England! 🏆⚽🙌

Janet has enjoyed a wonderful day celebrating with a visit from her family and was treated to a beautiful birthday cake lovingly made by our talented chef, Kemal, which was enjoyed by all. ❤️

🎾🍓 Wimbledon Fun at Thurleston House 🍓🎾

Today we're serving up a wonderful Wimbledon experience as residents gather to watch the Men's Singles Finals in style! 📺🏆

With delicious strawberries and cream, a refreshing glass of Pimm's, and plenty of sporting excitement, we're enjoying one of Britain's most cherished summer traditions together. 🇬🇧☀️

There's been lots of friendly discussion about who will lift the trophy, alongside fond memories of Wimbledon championships gone by. It's a fantastic afternoon of companionship, laughter, and world-class tennis.

👶💙 Moments to treasure at Thurleston House 💙👶

There was wonderful news to celebrate at Thurleston House recently as our lovely resident, Val, became a great-grandmother once again with the arrival of beautiful baby Spencer.

To help Val share in this precious family moment, we printed and framed a photograph of her newest great-grandchild for her room as a surprise! Seeing baby Spencer's picture proudly displayed brought a huge smile to Val's face, and she was absolutely elated.

It's so important to us that our residents can stay connected to the people and moments that mean the most to them. This side of Val’s family live up in County Durham so we were delighted to help celebrate this joyful milestone with Val and her family despite some distance between us…
