🚴🏻‍♂️ Cycling literally everywhere...

🏋🏻‍♂️ Finally back on the gym floor coaching again which has been so nice!

I think it's already time for a holiday?👀

Kicking September off with a week in Montreal from tomorrow🙌🏻🇨🇦

Yesterday I spoke about carbohydrates.

This got me thinking about caffeine, so I thought while I had a bit of time I would cover this as well!

They're both fantastic sources for us to use, but they have different uses and it's important that we understand the difference between the two of them☕🍞

One is a stimulant, the other is a fuel source.

But it's so easy for people to think that carbohydrates may get you hyped up, but also that caffeine will give you fuel, which just isn't the case.

This is such a simple yet overlooked aspect of our nutrition that can do wonders for your training.

Simply fuel for your session 🤷🏻‍♂️

Just because you eat enough energy over the course of a day for your composition needs doesn't mean you're eating enough for your performance needs❗

If we can fuel appropriately, then we will get more out of our session as we can come at it with the right intensity.

It also means we can recover more efficiently, not only helping us feel better but it means we can also be ready for our next session.

Stuck on things to use as snacks before a session? Feel free to reach out and let's chat!

PS* notice how caffeine was not mentioned at any point. Caffeine is fantastic as a stimulant but NOT as an energy source, don't get the two confused 👍🏻

ATHX 2026 didn't disappoint!

This was a milestone for me. I remember signing up to this when led on the sofa, fresh out of surgery feeling deflated by everything...

My training was in the bin going forward and motivation at an all time low, and I knew I needed something to keep me accountable.

ATHX was the goal. It gave me something to aim for and plenty of time to do it in.

Fast forward just over a year to the event, I PB'd my Deadlift and matched some previous lifts.

I came third in my heat for endurance and won the Metcon with a 7th place finish overall and 3rd in my age (34 and under)

I'm buzzing with the result! I almost pulled out with the move to London throwing me off entirely, but I'm so glad I didn't!

Glad to be back on the comp floor. I tried not to put pressure on it and just to enjoy being there and honestly, it made it so much more fun.

Just feeling grateful to be back doing the thing I love with good people🙌🏻

More of the same to come hopefully!

Next stop, Turf again?👀

First few weeks in London ✅

So far it's been nice to have a whole new routine and environment to be in, lots of adventures to be had!

Everything is still a bit all over the place as the new gym isn't up and running until the 24th but I'm super keen to get going in the new role and the facilities are looking😍😍

Maple is settling in, it's been nice to have some more free time to spend time with her and take her out on little adventures in our local area!🐾🐾

The only negative being my beloved road bike that I've had for about 10 years was nicked on my first week working in the city. Welcome to London ay?🤦🏻‍♂️a silly mistake on my part using an old cheap lock to secure it😓

Despite that, we're looking forward to our new life here🙌🏻🫶🏻

Testing your attention span with this one but it's a point worth listening too🤷🏻‍♂️

It's still an issue I see time and time again, even more so now that I'm in an open gym environment more often, which suggests a lot of people are training this way.

Chasing intensity, thinking that more is better, the more calories on your watch at the end of the session is the distinction between a good and bad session.

It's just not how it works👎🏻

Another reason why it's important to have a coach that understands how to program and understand how the body actually adapts and responds 😅

But sometimes less is in fact more, don't be that person that just sends it every single session.

If you're at the start of your training journey, then get support.

I love seeing new people in the gym, it's fantastic to see people getting out there and doing something for their health🙌🏻

But, I truly believe that getting a coach-led service or 1-1 trainer is so important when you start off✅

Firstly it comes from a safety perspective. Learn what to do and how to do it well so you can protect yourself while making the progress you need📈

But secondly it comes down to the rate at which you will progress↗️

Having a coach means you will see results much faster as you train appropriately.

Random training = random results.

A good coach knows how to structure and programme to help you get the results you want.

A good coach will also make sure you learn as you train, meaning you can take back autonomy with your train should you want it.

But, just like any other skill you learn in life, get guidance and support first.

The end to an incredible era.

Last week was my final day at what has been home for over 5 years🏠

I've literally poured blood, sweat and tears into this gym and I'm always going to look back at these years as some of the best of my life.

I've met incredible people and friends for life and I've learned so much from so many I have come across in this time.

I just want to thank every member, past and present for being a part of my journey and it's been a pleasure to have had the opportunity to coach you.

I also want to thank all the coaches I've worked with over the years. Again I've learned so much from each person I've worked with and there are lessons I will carry with me every step as I move forward.

Even upon saying goodbye I learned a valuable lesson. Which is that as coaches, we have a HUGE impact on the people we work with. We have the ability to literally change someone's life and I'm immensely proud to be able to say I've impacted some people in such a positive light during my time here.

After some emotional and difficult goodbyes, it's time to move on to the next chapter and the next challenge. I will miss every single member so much and again, just thank you for being apart of these incredible years🥹💙
