Zoe Curtis Counselling Reg.MBACP

Zoe Curtis Counselling Reg.MBACP I run my counselling practice in Ivybridge at the Devon Family Hub. I also offer online and telephone counselling. I work with individuals aged 14+.

I am a fully qualified, insured counsellor registered with the BACP. I also have 10 years employment experience in mental health related fields, working within young people’s, adults, and elderly care settings, including individuals with learning difficulties. I work to help people process the past, manage the present, become more self aware, and find healthy ways to express emotions or cope with

stresses. Whether you want to make changes within your life, or make sense of your thoughts, relationships, or identity, I offer a safe, non judgemental and confidential space to explore this. I am an integrative counsellor which means I can draw on different approaches depending on the issue you bring and the way of working that suits you best. My training is based in person centred practice, along with CBT, psychodynamic, transactional analysis (TA), and mindfulness. I can also work creatively if this is something that would suit you. Seeking counselling can be daunting and I will do my best to make you feel at ease. It is important that your counsellor is the right ‘fit’ for you and that you feel comfortable. I offer an initial consultation at a reduced rate so that you can get a feel for me and decide if we would work well together. Feel free to pop me a message and I'll be happy to answer any questions. Just like plants thrive in the sun, mental health is better when we talk about it. 🧡

Who listens to you most when you're struggling? Who gives you that sunlight?

One of the most interesting things about chronic stress, survival mode and even just overwhelming life seasons is tjat it doesn’t just change how we feel, it changes what we’re able to see.

When we’re constantly stressed, burnt out, anxious or just simply carrying too much for too long, our attention naturally narrows. We become focused on what needs fixing, what we forgot to do and what problems need solving next. Which is actually a very intelligent thing our nevrous system does when trying to protect us and adapt to the conditions around is.

But the problem here is many of us spend so long looking g for problems that even after the major events have past, we still have forgotten to look for anything else.

We stop noticing beauty, possibility, and what helps us feel alive.

Which is why so much of healing and simply feeling good in our body and life again comes from helping our body rediscover curiosity. Helping our nervous system and brain begin to ask “what else is here?” “What could also be possible?” “What interests me?”

Because the moment we become curious again, our attention expands and the world becomes larger than the problems we’re carrying. Possibilities start to emerge, life begins to feel like something we’re participating in again, and things feel a bit easier to navigate.

So if you’re craving more curiosity, joy, wonder and aliveness in your life. I’m opening doors to The Joy Challenge next week. Comment JOY and I’ll send you the link to learn more ✨
