Self-Care September is a good reminder that looking after yourself does not need to be complicated.

It can be small, regular things that help support your body and wellbeing, such as drinking more water, stretching gently, making time to rest, getting outdoors and checking in with how your body is feeling.

Regular massage can also be part of that routine.

At Essential Thyme, massage is not just something to book when you are already tense, uncomfortable or completely worn out. Booking a regular massage appointment can help you make time for your body before things build up too much.

You do not need to know exactly what your body needs before booking. Sandra will talk through how you are feeling, any areas of tension, knots or general aches and pains, and what your body may need on the day.

Self-care is not selfish. It is part of keeping yourself going.

There is nothing better than hearing how students feel after completing their training with Essential Thyme.

Emma recently trained in Anatomy & Physiology and Indian Head Massage with Sandra, and her feedback says exactly what we aim to offer through every course: structured learning, professional guidance and the support students need to feel confident moving forward.

Essential Thyme training is designed to be informative, practical and supportive, whether you are starting your massage journey or adding a new skill to your existing practice.

Thank you for the lovely review, Emma.

National Psoriasis Month 🤍

Psoriasis is more than a skin condition. For many people, it can affect confidence, comfort, sleep, stress levels and everyday wellbeing.

At Essential Thyme, every massage appointment begins with a full consultation, including your medical history, how you are feeling on the day and any areas of tension, knots or general aches and pains.

If you have psoriasis, your massage session can be adapted around your skin, comfort levels and any areas that may feel sensitive. This may mean avoiding certain areas, changing the approach or adapting the session depending on how your body is feeling that day.

It is always important to let your therapist know about any skin condition before your appointment, so your session can be carried out safely and appropriately.

National Wellness Month is a good reminder that looking after yourself should not wait until your body is already struggling.

Our latest blog looks at how regular massage can be part of a wider wellbeing routine, helping you check in with your body, notice areas of tension and make self-care something consistent rather than occasional.

At Essential Thyme, every massage appointment is shaped around how your body is feeling on the day, following a consultation with Sandra.

It’s International Dog Day.

Today feels like the perfect excuse to give Bailey a little moment on the grid.

Bailey is Sandra’s dog and a much-loved part of life behind the scenes at Essential Thyme. While she is not allowed in the therapy room, she still manages to bring plenty of character, company and smiles to the day.

Dogs are very good at reminding us to slow down, take a breath and enjoy the simple things. Something we could all probably do with a little more of.

So, for International Dog Day, here’s to Bailey and all the dogs who make our days that little bit better.

Fun fact: massage should not leave you in tears.

There can be different types of discomfort during a massage session.

There is the “good” type, where you can feel an area of tension being worked on and slowly easing. It might feel tender, but your body can still relax into it.

Then there is the “bad” type, where the pain feels sharp, overwhelming or brings tears to your eyes. That is usually your body saying stop.

At Essential Thyme, every massage appointment is tailored to you on the day. Adapting the session around your medical history, areas of tension, knots or general aches and pains, and how you are feeling at the time.

Massage does not need to hurt to be effective. The aim is to support your body, not push it beyond what feels right.
