Our residents have been busy sharing their remarkable life stories for this edition, featuring wonderful tales from a former lift engineer who travelled the globe and a talented chef who cooked up a storm in local restaurants.

We are so touched by this heart-warming review from a resident’s family at Steeton Court! 💙✨

"In addition to the excellent day to day care that mum receives she has had two big events since moving in - her grandson's wedding and her 92nd birthday. The team at Steeton Court have been brilliant- helping with arrangements to enable her to attend the wedding; organising assistance on the day to accompany mum to and from the ceremony, someone who was by mum's side throughout the day and got her settled back in to her room over a welcome cup of tea. A tiring but memorable day for her.

The staff also made mum's birthday really special for her - and us. Handmade card, balloons, bunting and a super birthday cake served with pots of tea! Fabulous.
These important events in residents' lives show just how much the team genuinely care and go above and beyond."

From ensuring our residents can attend special family celebrations like weddings with dedicated support, to pulling out all the stops for a 92nd birthday with handmade cards, decorations, and cake, our team always aims to go above and beyond! Celebrating these unforgettable moments together and making wonderful memories is what care is all about. 🎂🥂🌸

We had such a wonderful time on Wednesday as crafty residents from Cavendish and Harewood came together to create beautiful flowers using Italian crepe and tissue paper 🌸 Everyone crafted their own unique blooms, and confidence truly blossomed as we admired the finished creations! To top off a pampering day, everyone enjoyed having their hair and nails done so they looked and felt their best 🥰💅

Yesterday morning was all about soaking in the sunshine while sharing some truly remarkable life stories ☀️💛 We heard all about one resident's fascinating career as a lift engineer working on the iconic QE2, as well as his beloved classic Alvis Speed 20 fast car! 🏎️ Other lovely chats included memories of Winston Churchill, family chocolate cake recipes, and tales of cycling for Britain 🚲

We were also treated to a visit from Boston, the proud dad of our regular pup visitors! 🐾❤️ Mrs M was determined to have the gentle giant sit on her knee, but settled for lots of cosy cuddles instead! Later in the afternoon, Harewood hosted a delicious lemon cheesecake baking session 🍋🧁 Getting the ingredients into the glasses before they were eaten was a challenge, but seeing residents enjoy up to three servings proved just how special these afternoons together are! 😋✨

What an incredible, action-packed few days we’ve had at Steeton Court Nursing Home! 🐾❤️

Our sweet, regular visitor Martha the dog spent time getting to know some of our newest residents, bringing so much comfort and joy wherever she trotted. As one lady beautifully put it, “You couldn’t have done anything better for me today – you’ve made my day.”

We swapped bingo for a lively general knowledge quiz and enjoyed a peaceful stroll around the gardens with our newest resident, Mr A. He’s already planning future adventures on the Spellman Express—with the Cow and Calf at the top of his wish list, closely followed by a trip to the local butcher for one of their famous pork pies! 🚐🌿🥧

We’ve also been busy preparing our board for the Silsden Gala, spotting quick garden butterflies, and getting creative in Harewood. We took inspiration from artist Piet Mondrian to craft our own colourful masterpieces, followed by a relaxing lantern-making class upstairs. 🎨✨

It was wonderful seeing all of our lounges full of visitors, families sharing stories over memory albums, and everyone falling in love with the cutest sleeping puppies in Harewood! 🥰

To top it all off, we enjoyed a trip to Steeton Hall, sharing cheeky conversations, playing darts, and listening to a truly touching story. One resident shared how he had previously been given just two weeks to live before coming to Steeton Court—and is now preparing to return home, adding with a smile, “Steeton Court makes miracles happen.” 🎯💞

Do you have a skill or hobby you’d love to share with others? 🧶🎨💻 A huge thank you to the fantastic person who filled out a suggestion slip at our very first Airedale Seniors Collective—we listened, and we’re hosting a skill share afternoon!

We’re looking for people to host a table at our next collective on Tuesday 15th September from 2pm to 4pm at Silsden Methodist Church. The afternoon is all about teaching something you’re passionate about, but it’s also a wonderful chance to learn something new yourself. We’re encouraging people of all ages to join us to make for a fantastic intergenerational session! 🌟

Whether it’s knitting, tech tips, painting, languages, or anything in between, we would love for you to inspire our community. Do you know someone who would be great at hosting a table? Tag them in the comments below!👇

Yesterday was such a special day at Steeton Court Nursing Home! 🌟 We had a fun and energetic morning in the Cavendish Conservatory, filled with so much laughter and movement! 🌞🎶

We were overjoyed to welcome the wonderful children from Audrey's for one last session before the summer holidays. Together, we kept active using colourful scarves, beanbags, and lots of fun props, filling the room with smiles! 🎈 Their visits always bring so much happiness, and our residents loved chatting with them afterwards to hear all about their exciting summer holiday plans. ☀️

Before saying goodbye, the children presented us with a beautiful handmade card to wish everyone a lovely summer and to thank us for welcoming them to our Thursday music sessions. It was such a thoughtful gesture that meant the world to our residents and team! ❤️ A huge thank you to all those wonderful little faces for bringing so much love and joy to our Thursday mornings. We hope you have a fantastic summer and can't wait to welcome you back after the holidays! 👋

We're also delighted that our exercise classes will continue throughout the summer! A big thank you to Oona's sister, India, who did a fabulous job getting us all "mooooving" and will be running sessions over the summer break! 💪😊

In the afternoon, a lovely group of ladies gathered for a lively game of Guess The Word! 🧠 With categories ranging from politics to musicals and books, everyone joined in the fun—so much fun, in fact, that we completely forgot to take pictures! 📸 (Oops!)
