Why can’t I get my earwax removal done on the NHS any more? I am often asked this question. The answer is that it was declassified as an essential service, except in a few small cases. There is some pressure on the government to change this again, but unfortunately, for the time being, it is a private service, in the same vein as eye tests/glasses prescriptions/hearing tests.
