The Reinge Clinic

The Reinge Clinic We are experts at eliminating your pain in Kenilworth and we do this by getting to the root cause. When you come to us with a pain or injury, we don’t just look at the affected area, we look at all the areas that may have led to this pain occurring.

Pain rarely starts for no reason. The reason may be in your past history rather than in the recent history. So we work like detectives to understand why that pain has occurred. Feet are essential for the health of the whole lower body, but if you have Knee pain, your feet are often the first place we look. 👀

👣 Weak or flat feet, cause several issues:
👣 The forces generated by the ground to run up the inside of your knee, rather than through the middle.
👣 They also cause your knee to collapse inwards as you load your foot
👣 Excess force and pressure on the inside of the knee can cause damage to the meniscus int his area
👣 Over time the meniscus weakens, leading eventually to Osteoarthritis.

The good news is, we can fix this by strengthening your feet. 💪This gives the foot back it's arch, which absorbs the forces of walking and running, and ensures the forces travel up through the centre of your knee. 😃

This simple exercise, done correctly, solves a lot of knee pain issues.

If you are having problems with knee pain, give us a call and we can find out where the pain is coming from.

Why Walking Confidence Matters in Knee Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis can make walking painful. Over time, many people start to walk less, shorten their stride and look down at the ground rather than ahead.

This can have several knock-on effects on the body:

🟠 The muscles around the knee become weaker
🟠 Balance can deteriorate as your walking pattern changes
🟠 Looking down can create back and shoulder issues

If you've noticed you're shuffling rather than striding, give us a call and we can take a look

At The Reinge Clinic, we offer a range of options to help manage osteoarthritis, including APOS therapy, specialist bracing and targeted strength programmes.

Why do Meniscus Injuries often lead to Osteoarthritis later?

The meniscus is a structure than provides shock absorption to the knee joint.

As we age, the meniscus naturally becomes thinner and less resilient, which is one reason we become more susceptible to osteoarthritis. If the meniscus has been damaged in the past, it is less able to absorb and distribute forces effectively. As it continues to thin with age, this can accelerate the pathway towards osteoarthritis.

This doesn't mean everyone who has had a meniscus injury will develop osteoarthritis. The good news is that maintaining good strength, stability and balance around the knee can help protect the joint and support long-term knee health.

This is why rehabilitation is so important following a meniscus injury. You're not just dealing with today's problem , you are helping to protect your knee from future issues as well.

If you need help with a meniscus injury, we can help with targeted strengthening, specialist bracing and a structured rehabilitation plan.

Simple Hip Stability Exercise to Improve Walking Confidence

Hip stability is really important in walking. When hips are unstable, glute muscles overwork and pelvis position can shift.

Try this simple exercise that strengthens the deep stabilisers around the hip.

A few tips:
📌 Keep the supporting knee straight
📌 Place your foot in front of you rather than underneith you
📌 Have something nearby to hold onto if your balance is poor
📌Do barefoot if you can

Try holding the position for 5–10 seconds and repeat several times on each side.

If you need help with your hip pain, give us a call. 😃
