One of the most misunderstood parts of mediumship development…
is discipline.
Many people think discipline means pushing harder.
Concentrating more.
Trying to make the communication stronger.
Forcing the mind to stay focused.
But in mediumship, a disciplined mind is not a controlling mind.
It is an observing mind.
It is a mind that learns to notice how the impression is forming before deciding what to do with it.
Because every impression does not arrive in the same way.
Some impressions begin as a feeling.
Some as a picture.
Some as a word.
Some as a physical sensation.
Some as an emotional atmosphere.
Some as a subtle knowing that needs time to unfold.
And the way the impression forms often tells the medium how to approach it.
A feeling may need to be stayed with.
A picture may need to be noticed how we see it.
A word may need to be spoken.
A sensation may need to be understood through the body.
An emotional atmosphere may need to be allowed to reveal the relationship behind it.
This is where discipline becomes essential.
Because without a disciplined mind, the medium can quickly leave the impression and start doing what they think they should be doing.
They may try to force facts.
Search for a name.
Push for a date.
Copy the way another medium works.
Or move too quickly because they believe that is what good mediumship should look like.
But comparison often takes the medium away from the intelligence of their own communication.
It makes them abandon the way Spirit is actually working with them in that moment.
This is something we place great importance upon within development.
The medium must learn to follow the nature of the impression, not the habit of their expectation.
Because Spirit may not be asking you to work harder.
Spirit may be asking you to listen differently.
To feel more carefully.
To observe more honestly.
To allow the impression to show you the next step.
A disciplined mind does not rush ahead.
It does not judge too soon.
It does not copy another person’s process.
It stays present long enough to understand what is happening.
That is often where clarity begins.
Not through forcing the communication into what the medium thinks it should be…
but by recognising how the communication is already forming and allowing that to guide the way forward.
Because real discipline in mediumship is not about control.
It is about awareness, patience, and the ability to respond to Spirit as the communication unfolds.
