Creative Trails isn't about having a trolley full of resources, and counselling isn't always about being in a room.

Some children find it easier to talk when they're moving.

Some communicate through play, creativity, imagination, or simply being alongside someone they trust.

That's one of the reasons I created Creative Trails.

A space where there is no pressure to sit still, make eye contact, or find the right words.

A space for fun.
A space for silliness.
A space for curiosity.
A space to feel safe.

Nature has a wonderful way of holding us. It offers room to move, explore, notice, wonder, and connect.

Whether we're making up stories, following a trail, spotting shapes in the clouds, or sharing a laugh, something powerful happens when we step away from expectations and give ourselves permission to play.

Because communication isn't always verbal.

Connection isn't always found in conversation.

And growth doesn't always happen within four walls.

Sometimes it happens one step, one smile, and one shared moment at a time.

I currently have availability for Creative Trails sessions. If you'd like to find out more about how they could support your child, send me a message and let's have a chat.

This week on the podcast, I’m joined by Dr Jenny Turner 💛

We talk about motherhood, overwhelm, burnout and the pressure so many mums feel to “do it all” perfectly.

Jenny shares gentle, practical reminders around self-compassion, slowing down, and why tiny moments of care for yourself really do matter ☀️

A shared journal gives a gentle space to write, draw and connect together.

Why is there a tray of sand in my counselling room?

It's a question I get asked quite often by parents.

The answer is simple.

Play is a child's language.

While adults often process experiences by talking, children often make sense of their world through play, creativity, and exploration. Sand can help children express feelings they don't yet have the words for, regulate big emotions, and work through experiences at their own pace.

There are no right or wrong answers in the sand tray.

No pressure to explain.

Just a safe, supportive space where children and young people can explore what they're feeling in a way that feels comfortable for them.

Sometimes the most powerful moments in counselling happen without a single word being spoken.
