Moving a loved one into a care home is one of the hardest decisions many families will ever make. It's natural to feel worried, emotional or even guilty.

But please know this… you are not giving up on your loved one. You are making sure they receive the care, support and companionship they need. ❤️

This lovely message came from someone who regularly visited a loved one in our care and has sadly since passed away. To know that they always felt welcomed, supported and part of our extended family means the world to us.

At HomeTrust Care, we believe that care extends far beyond our residents. We care for husbands, wives, sons, daughters, friends and everyone who walks through our doors.

A warm welcome, a listening ear and a friendly smile can make all the difference during some of life's most difficult moments.

Beautiful décor and lovely gardens are important… but they're not the things that matter most.

In this week's video, our Nether Place Home Manager, Tracey, shares her top tips on what families should really look for when visiting a care home.

✨ Are the staff warm and welcoming?
✨ Do residents look happy and engaged?
✨ Is there laughter and activity around the home?
✨ Do staff interact naturally with residents?
✨ Does the home simply feel right?

Because when it comes to choosing care, your instincts matter.

At HomeTrust Care, we always say that care isn't about the wallpaper or the furniture – it's about the people, the relationships and the feeling you get when you walk through the door.

Ask questions. Take your time. Visit more than once if you need to.

💚🏡 **Why Training Matters in Care** 🏡💚

At HomeTrust Care, we're passionate about providing the very best care possible, and that starts with ensuring our teams never stop learning.

In this video, Chloe based at Silver Howe but looking after training across the group talks about the importance of ongoing training and how regular practical sessions help our staff better understand the experiences of the people they care for every day.

One example is manual handling training. By experiencing equipment such as hoists for themselves, our team gains a real appreciation of how residents may feel – whether that's nervous, anxious or simply uncertain about being out of control. It's an invaluable way of building empathy alongside skills.

Great care isn't just about doing things correctly. It's about understanding, compassion and seeing the world through someone else's eyes. That's why continuous learning is such an important part of life at HomeTrust Care.

At Silver Howe, we often say that caring for someone with dementia is a team effort – and families are one of the most important members of that team.

In this lovely video, Segun shares why family involvement makes such a difference. From favourite songs and treasured memories to simply being present, families help us understand the person behind the diagnosis and create truly personalised care.

One of the most touching things we see is the power of familiar faces. A resident waiting for a Sunday visit, a husband recognising his wife at lunch, memories sparked by love and connection. These moments remind us that dementia may change many things, but meaningful relationships remain incredibly powerful. ❤️

Understanding dementia as an illness is important, but understanding the person is just as vital. When families and care teams work together, we can provide the comfort, reassurance and dignity every resident deserves.
