πŸ’š "A care home is not a prison… it's a home."

Those are the beautiful words from our wonderful Senior Carer, ChiChi, in this week's video.

Moving a loved one into a care home is one of the hardest decisions many families will ever make. It's natural to feel worried, emotional or even guilty.

But please know this… you are not giving up on your loved one. You are making sure they receive the care, support and companionship they need. ❀️

At Silver Howe, we believe settling into a care home isn't something that happens overnight. It takes time, patience and, most importantly, partnership with families.

Some of the little things that make a big difference:

πŸ“Έ Bringing family photos and treasured belongings.
🏑 Making their room feel familiar and personal.
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Visiting regularly and staying connected.
πŸ’¬ Sharing stories about who your loved one is, what they enjoy and what makes them smile.

Because the more we know about the person, the better we can create a safe, happy and loving environment for them.

At HomeTrust Care, we don't just care for residents – we care for families too. We walk this journey together. πŸ’š

πŸ’š Some reviews touch our hearts a little more deeply.

This lovely message came from someone who regularly visited a loved one in our care and has sadly since passed away. To know that they always felt welcomed, supported and part of our extended family means the world to us.

At HomeTrust Care, we believe that care extends far beyond our residents. We care for husbands, wives, sons, daughters, friends and everyone who walks through our doors.

A warm welcome, a listening ear and a friendly smile can make all the difference during some of life's most difficult moments.

We are incredibly grateful for these kind words and will remember them with great affection. ❀️

πŸ’š Choosing a care home is one of the biggest decisions a family will ever make.

Beautiful dΓ©cor and lovely gardens are important… but they're not the things that matter most.

In this week's video, our Nether Place Home Manager, Tracey, shares her top tips on what families should really look for when visiting a care home.

✨ Are the staff warm and welcoming?
✨ Do residents look happy and engaged?
✨ Is there laughter and activity around the home?
✨ Do staff interact naturally with residents?
✨ Does the home simply feel right?

Because when it comes to choosing care, your instincts matter.

At HomeTrust Care, we always say that care isn't about the wallpaper or the furniture – it's about the people, the relationships and the feeling you get when you walk through the door.

Ask questions. Take your time. Visit more than once if you need to.

Most importantly, ask yourself:

❀️ "Can I imagine my loved one being happy here?"

πŸ’š Caring for someone at the end of their life is both a privilege and a responsibility that we never take lightly.

This heartfelt message from a daughter, thanking our team for the kindness, sensitivity and compassion shown to her mum in her final days, means more than words can say.

At HomeTrust Care, we know that it's often the smallest acts of kindness – a reassuring hand, a comforting word or simply being there – that families remember most.

To be trusted to care for someone at such an important time in their life is an honour, and we are incredibly proud of our teams who go above and beyond to support not only our residents, but the families who love them too.

Thank you for your beautiful words and for allowing us to be part of your mum's journey. ❀️

πŸ’š Feedback from families means so much to us, but praise from fellow healthcare professionals is especially humbling.

To receive such kind words from a Specialist Nurse about our care, our team and the environment we've created is something we're incredibly proud of.

Every day, our staff go above and beyond to provide compassionate, person-centred care, and recognition like this is a wonderful reminder of the difference they make.

A huge thank you to everyone in our team for their dedication, kindness and unwavering commitment to our residents and families. ❀️

πŸ’š Supporting Those Who Served.

At HomeTrust Care, our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant isn't just a signature on a piece of paper – it's a promise.

In this week's video, our Director of Compliance and Armed Forces Covenant Champion, Brian Ruddy, explains why supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families is so important to us.

Many people leaving the Armed Forces face a huge life transition. Finding stability, a sense of belonging and the right support can make all the difference.

That's where HomeTrust Care comes in.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ We provide compassionate nursing and residential care for veterans and their families.
πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ We work closely with organisations including the Royal British Legion and local veteran groups.
πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ We take the time to understand each person's background and experiences, helping them feel at home and connected to the life they've lived.
πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ We support Armed Forces families and actively seek opportunities to employ veterans and family members within our homes.

We know that service doesn't end when the uniform comes off. The values of friendship, loyalty and community stay for life – and we believe those who have served our country deserve care, respect and support in return.

At HomeTrust Care, we are proud to stand beside our Armed Forces community. ❀️

πŸ’šπŸ‘ **Why Training Matters in Care** πŸ‘πŸ’š

At HomeTrust Care, we're passionate about providing the very best care possible, and that starts with ensuring our teams never stop learning.

In this video, Chloe based at Silver Howe but looking after training across the group talks about the importance of ongoing training and how regular practical sessions help our staff better understand the experiences of the people they care for every day.

One example is manual handling training. By experiencing equipment such as hoists for themselves, our team gains a real appreciation of how residents may feel – whether that's nervous, anxious or simply uncertain about being out of control. It's an invaluable way of building empathy alongside skills.

Great care isn't just about doing things correctly. It's about understanding, compassion and seeing the world through someone else's eyes. That's why continuous learning is such an important part of life at HomeTrust Care.

Thank you, Chloe, for sharing your passion and helping us create a culture where learning never stops. πŸ’šπŸ˜Š

πŸ’šπŸ‘ **Family: The Missing Piece of Dementia Care** πŸ‘πŸ’š

At Silver Howe, we often say that caring for someone with dementia is a team effort – and families are one of the most important members of that team.

In this lovely video, Segun shares why family involvement makes such a difference. From favourite songs and treasured memories to simply being present, families help us understand the person behind the diagnosis and create truly personalised care.

One of the most touching things we see is the power of familiar faces. A resident waiting for a Sunday visit, a husband recognising his wife at lunch, memories sparked by love and connection. These moments remind us that dementia may change many things, but meaningful relationships remain incredibly powerful. ❀️

Understanding dementia as an illness is important, but understanding the person is just as vital. When families and care teams work together, we can provide the comfort, reassurance and dignity every resident deserves.

Thank you, Segun, for sharing such an important message. πŸ’šπŸ˜Š Our carers are not just here to look after your loved ones, they are also here to help you gain more understanding and offer advice both practical and emotional.

πŸ’š HomeTrust Care is proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a national pledge to support members of the Armed Forces community, including veterans, reservists and their families. πŸŽ–οΈ

For us, it is a measure of respect, compassion and shared purpose.

Many of the qualities developed through military service, including discipline, leadership, adaptability and resilience, are also qualities that sit at the heart of excellent care.

By signing the Covenant, we are recognising the skills, experience and values that members of the Armed Forces community can bring to HomeTrust Care, our teams and the residents we support.

This commitment also sits closely alongside our Employee Ownership Trust ethos. Both reflect who we are: a values-led organisation that puts people at the heart of everything we do. 🌿
