Last week, we attended a fascinating and thought-provoking evening hosted by the Academy of Physical Medicine, with GP and author Dr Malcolm Kendrick.
The talk explored statins, cholesterol, and the research and data behind the figures used when prescribing statins. Dr Kendrick shared facts, figures and stories, raising questions about how research data is presented and whether patients are always given a clear explanation of the potential risks and benefits before medication is prescribed.
He also shared some of the stories behind the headlines, giving us plenty of food for thought. Much of this subject is covered in his latest book, The Clot Thickens.
It was lovely to catch up with colleagues and take part in some high-quality continuing professional development.
As osteopaths, we are required to undertake ongoing postgraduate learning and professional development throughout our careers, building on our initial four- or five-year undergraduate training.💙
