Kelly Porch Counselling and Hypnotherapy

Kelly Porch Counselling and Hypnotherapy Empathic and non-judgemental counselling for issues and problems such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship issues, health issues and so on.

My name is Kelly Porch and I am passionate about providing good quality, confidential and non-judgemental counselling. I provide counselling for all different types of concerns/issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship issues, health issues and so on. I am mindful that deciding to see a counsellor can be scary and that choosing a counsellor can be confusing. The relationship

that you have with your counsellor is extremely important and to help you make the decision as to whether I am the right counsellor for you, I offer a FREE 30 minute introductory session. I not only provide counselling in-person, I also offer online counselling, so if you are away on business a lot or can't leave the house/travel to me for any reason, it now doesn't mean that you can't have counselling. I am mindful that making a decision to see a counsellor can be frightening. It is also essential that you are comfortable with the counsellor that you choose to see. For these reasons, please don't hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or you would just like a general chat about what counselling can offer. For confidentiality purposes, I won't reply to any messages sent via Facebook, so please use my email address or call me. Take a look at my website and this page for more information and feel free to contact me with any questions that you have.

AI is already in the therapy room.Whether therapists like it or not.

Clients are using AI to explore their emotions, make sense of relationships, organise their thoughts, ask questions about their mental health and sometimes seek support when another person simply isn't available.

And the figures are interesting.

According to the NCPS Annual Member Survey 2026, 58.7% of counsellors and psychotherapists surveyed said they frequently or occasionally encounter clients using AI for emotional or mental-health support.

So perhaps the question for our profession is no longer:

“Should clients be using AI?”

Perhaps it needs to become:

“Given that clients ARE using it, how do we work with that safely, ethically and therapeutically?”

I don't believe AI is therapy. But I also don't think simply telling clients not to use it is necessarily the answer.

What if, instead, we got curious?

What are they asking it?

What are they getting from it?

Why did it feel easier or safer to tell AI something they couldn't tell another person?

And what might all of that tell us about the client sitting in front of us?

I've written a new blog exploring ""AI in therapy, the risks, the potential benefits, what I'm seeing in my own practice and why I think therapists need to engage with AI rather than simply reject it."

I'd be really interested to hear what other therapists think.

Is AI something we should be protecting therapy from — or something we now need to learn how to work alongside?

NEW CLINICAL SUPERVISION SPACES

A small number of slots have recently become available in my supervision practice, so I'm welcoming some new supervisees.

I work with:

- Trainee counsellors — developing confidence, skills and professional identity.
- Newly qualified counsellors — navigating the transition from training into professional practice.
- Experienced counsellors — wanting somewhere reflective, supportive and appropriately challenging to think about their work.

My approach is collaborative, down-to-earth and focused on helping you practise safely, ethically and confidently.

- Bring your client work.
- Bring your questions.
- Bring the mistakes.
- Bring the ethical dilemmas.
- Bring the bits you're struggling with.

You don't need to have it all worked out before supervision.

Burnout doesn’t always look like someone who can’t get out of bed.

Sometimes it looks like you are someone who keeps going.

- You’re still working.
- Still meeting deadlines.
- Still answering emails.
- Still doing what everyone expects.

You’ve just stopped enjoying any of it.

You’re tired, irritable, detached and counting down to weekends that don’t seem to recharge you anymore.

You don’t have to wait until you physically can’t continue before doing something about it.

And getting support doesn't need to become another huge commitment in your diary.

I now offer 30, 60 and 90-minute counselling sessions for busy professionals.

Your client isn't the only person in the counselling room.

You're there too.

And you bring your history, beliefs, experiences, relationships and vulnerabilities into the room with you.

Working with clients can influence:

- Who you want to rescue.
- What you notice.
- What you avoid.
- What you find difficult to challenge.
- And the clients who somehow stay in your mind long after the session has finished.

Self-awareness isn't about becoming a perfectly neutral therapist.

It's about becoming increasingly aware of yourself within the therapeutic relationship.

That's an important part of supervision.

A few spaces have opened up in my supervision practice and I'm currently taking on new supervisees.

“We don’t really talk anymore.”

Sometimes relationship problems aren’t dramatic.

There hasn’t necessarily been an affair or one huge argument.

You’ve just gradually become disconnected.

You talk about the children, work, money and what needs doing.

But not much about each other.

Individual counselling can give you somewhere to think honestly about your relationship, your part in what’s happening and what you actually want.

Without having to pretend everything is fine.

Sessions are available for 30, 60 or 90 minutes, so you can choose a length that suits what you need and the time you have available.
