Hobbling through those first few steps in the morning? 👣

Heel pain when you first get out of bed can be incredibly frustrating — and it’s not something you simply have to put up with.

At Next Step Podiatry, our Musculoskeletal Podiatry Assessment looks at why you’re experiencing pain, rather than simply treating the symptoms.

When you work in podiatry and moisturiser is quite literally part of your personality… 😂🦶

We spend our days talking about dry skin, cracked heels and fissures — and reminding people that moisturiser isn’t just for your face! 🤣

Dry, cracked skin can become uncomfortable and may lead to painful fissures, especially around the heels. A good foot cream used regularly can help keep your skin soft, smooth and healthy.

Just remember: moisturise your feet, but avoid applying cream between your toes, as excess moisture there can encourage problems.

And if your heels are already cracked, painful or not improving, we’re always happy to help. ❤️

CLEANER WANTED – KETTERING

We’re looking for a reliable, experienced self-employed cleaner to help us keep Next Step Podiatry clean, fresh and welcoming for our patients and team.

The role is approximately 2 visits per week, around 2 hours per visit, with some flexibility around our clinic opening hours.

We’re looking for someone who is self-employed, fully insured and DBS checked, with experience in commercial/business cleaning and someone we can rely on to work independently to a high standard.

💷 Competitive self-employed rate, dependent on experience

Pressure is only half the story… 👣

When we assess the way you walk, we don’t just look at how much pressure is beneath your feet — we can also look at how long that pressure is being applied.

This is known as plantar pressure impulse.

An area of the foot may not show the very highest pressure, but if it is being loaded for longer during every step, that repeated stress may contribute to problems affecting the joints, tendons and soft tissues.

Using our Footscan® technology, alongside a detailed clinical assessment, we can gather valuable information about the way your feet load and move when you walk.

This can be particularly useful when investigating problems such as:

👣 Persistent heel pain
👣 Forefoot pain / metatarsalgia
👣 Recurring overload injuries
👣 Gait and biomechanical concerns

And importantly, finding an abnormal loading pattern doesn’t automatically mean you need orthotics.

Depending on what we find, your treatment plan might include rehabilitation, strength and mobility work, footwear advice, gait changes or bespoke Phits 3D-printed orthotics where appropriate.

If you’re struggling with foot, ankle or lower-limb pain, you don’t necessarily need to wait months before getting help.

You can now book directly with us for:

🦶 Initial Foot & Ankle Assessments
For new or straightforward problems such as heel pain, forefoot pain, Achilles pain or a recent injury.

🏃 Full MSK Assessments + Footscan®
For persistent, recurring or more complex foot, ankle and lower-limb pain, sports injuries, gait concerns or if you’re considering bespoke orthotics.

💙 Existing Patient MSK + Footscan®
A dedicated pathway for existing Next Step patients who need a more detailed biomechanical or gait assessment.

We’re also delighted to welcome Yasamin, our experienced MSK Podiatrist, who will be running our Wednesday morning MSK clinic in our Kettering Gait Lab.
