💧 Hydration and Brain Health
As temperatures rise, it becomes even more important to stay well hydrated.
Water plays an essential role in helping the brain function effectively and supports concentration, attention, memory and mood. Even mild dehydration can sometimes leave us feeling tired, less focused, irritable or mentally sluggish.
For people living with dementia, maintaining good hydration is particularly important, as dehydration can sometimes contribute to increased confusion and reduced wellbeing.
Remember to drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially during hot weather, even if you do not feel thirsty.
Helpful Tip: On particularly hot days, try placing a cool, damp towel around the back of your neck. Turning and re-wetting the towel regularly can help cool the body and improve comfort during periods of high heat.
