Joint Effusion = Swelling Inside The Joint 💧🦵
If your knee, ankle, shoulder or elbow feels swollen, stiff and tight… you may have a joint effusion (extra fluid inside the joint).
This is usually a sign the joint is irritated and reacting to something.
Common Causes:
✅ Injury
✅ Meniscus / ligament irritation
✅ Arthritis flare up
✅ Overuse / overload
✅ Inflammation
✅ Gout
Common Symptoms:
⚠️ Swelling
⚠️ Tightness
⚠️ Pain
⚠️ Reduced movement
⚠️ Stiffness
What you should Do:
✔️ Reduce aggravating activity
✔️ Ice if helpful
✔️ Gentle movement
✔️ Get assessed if it keeps returning
Seek Help ASAP If:
🚨 Red hot joint
🚨 Fever
🚨 Cannot weight bear
🚨 Severe pain
🚨 Sudden major swelling
