Breastfeeding is something many women want to continue for longer however due to many factors women are not getting the journey they wish.

The support from a trained and experienced professional such as an IBCLC -lactation consultant, would provide expert skilled guidance to partners and families so that women can have the opportunity and support for the journey they wish 🤱

We also need adequate paid parental leave, protected time to breastfeed after returning to work and investment in breastfeeding support programmes that truly make a difference to families, protecting parents from some of the formula marketing that undermines confidence. And allow women and families the space to make informed decisions 🥰

When we build a world that supports breastfeeding, we build a world that supports families. ❤️

Breastfeeding rates at 6 months are steadily rising, reflecting a growing shift in how families are supported and informed. The latest Infant Feeding Survey shows more parents continuing their breastfeeding journey well beyond the early weeks, with sustained feeding becoming increasingly common as awareness, community support, and specialist services improve.

A few weeks ago I was privileged to be invited to a very special photo shoot with some incredible people.

The incredible woman and their babies highlight to me this upward trend is a powerful reminder: when families receive timely, skilled, and compassionate support, breastfeeding thrives. Let’s keep championing informed choices, accessible help, and environments where every feeding journey is valued. 💛

⚠️ Product recall: Aptamil First Infant Formula

Danone is recalling a batch of Aptamil First Infant Formula because cerulide toxin has been found in the product.

Cereulide can cause rapid onset of nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. It’s unlikely to be destroyed by boiling water or cooking.

Even if your baby seems well, it is essential to stop using affected products. If the formula was prescribed by a health professional, consult a pharmacist or other medical professional before changing formula.
