“The technique belongs to the therapist. The outcome belongs to the client.”

I love this quote because it sums up what good soft tissue therapy is about.

As a therapist, I bring my knowledge, clinical reasoning and hands-on skills to assess how you move, identify restriction and treat muscular tension and dysfunction.

But treatment isn’t simply something that should be done to you.

When dealing with musculoskeletal (MSK) pain, stiffness or restricted movement, the best results often come from working together — combining hands-on treatment with education, movement, homecare and building confidence in what your body can do.

My aim isn’t simply to make you feel better for an hour. It’s to help you move better, understand your body and confidently manage it yourself.

The technique belongs to the therapist — but the progress and achievement belong to you.

If pain, stiffness or restricted movement is stopping you doing the things you enjoy, get in touch.

MUSCLES And MOVEMENT — It’s All Connected

Fact: If your muscular system isn’t functioning efficiently, your skeletal system — and ultimately the way you move — can be affected too.

Your muscles and skeleton don’t work independently. Muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues work together to support joints, provide stability and create movement throughout the body.

Every time you walk, run, bend, lift or reach, muscles contract and relax to move and stabilise your skeleton.

But when muscles become tight, restricted, overloaded or imbalanced, this can alter the way we move. Other areas may start to compensate, potentially leading to:

• Reduced mobility and flexibility
• Restricted or inefficient movement
• Muscular aches and tension
• Changes in joint mechanics
• Increased risk of overload and injury

… importantly, where you feel the discomfort isn’t always where the problem started.

Remedial, sports massage, soft tissue therapy - aims to identify and treat areas of soft-tissue dysfunction, helping to restore movement, reduce restriction and get your body working more efficiently again.

Muscles, movement and mobility.

Your body is an incredible piece of engineering, made up of circa 206 bones, over 600 muscles, and a vast network of tendons, ligaments, fascia and connective tissue. Every movement you make relies on these structures working together in perfect harmony.

When muscles become tight, weak, overworked or injured, they can pull your body out of balance. This may lead to pain, reduced flexibility, stiffness, poor posture, restricted movement and, if left untreated, an increased risk of injury.

Soft Tissue Remedial Massage helps to:
✅Relieve muscular tension and pain
✅Improve mobility and flexibility
✅Restore normal movement patterns
✅Reduce the risk of injury
✅Enhance sporting performance and recovery
✅Help you move with greater ease and confidence.

Whether you’re an athlete, enjoy keeping active, or simply want to get through your day without discomfort, Hagley Sports Massage is here to help. With the correct treatment, support and advice, movement can become the solution not the problem.

Is discomfort, injury, stiffness or restricted movement stopping you from doing the things you enjoy?

Remedial massage is far more than just a massage. It is a targeted, evidence-informed treatment designed to assess and address musculoskeletal pain, injury and dysfunction.

Rather than simply treating where it hurts, remedial massage aims to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms. By working with the muscles, fascia, connective tissues and nervous system, treatment can help restore movement, reduce pain and improve overall function.

Every treatment is tailored to your individual needs and may include a combination of:
✔️ Soft tissue therapy
✔️ Myofascial release
✔️ Trigger point therapy
✔️ Neuromuscular techniques
✔️ Muscle-specific stretching

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing persistent aches and pains, spending long hours at a desk, or looking to improve your sporting performance, remedial massage can help.

Benefits of remedial massage include:
• Reduced muscle pain and tension
• Improved flexibility and range of movement
• Enhanced muscle function
• Faster recovery from exercise and injury
• Improved athletic performance
• Reduced stress and improved wellbeing

If you’re struggling with pain or discomfort, don’t ignore it—early treatment can make all the difference.

Nasty niggling dull pain in base of the foot and heel that just won’t go away?

Plantar fasciitis is a nasty painful debilitating condition in the band of tissue (plantar fascia - PF) that connects the heel bone to the base of the toes. It supports the arch of the foot and is the “shock absorber” taking so much load in the foot.

The root cause of PF is that the surrounding musculature and band of connective tissue are not able to withstand the load that is being placed upon it. Micro tears and trauma of the tissue can cause a nasty pain on and off for what seems like a lifetime, if left untreated. We find ourselves having to reduce our activities and struggle to fulfill day to day movement without struggling with pain and discomfort.

We see a rise in PF as a result of wearing flip flops and lesser cushioned / stability footwear.

Hagley Sports Massage offers a comprehensive treatment plan, including soft tissue remedial massage, ankle mobilisation in the early stages of treatment and rehab, targeting pain management. Focus will be on mobility of the ankle joint as well as joints of the foot including the big toe. A strengthening programme will progressively focus on the calf muscles, small intrinsic muscles of the foot and posterior tibialis.

Don’t delay your suffering any longer. Call Hagley Sports Massage today to discuss your condition and book an appointment on 07788 584553.

Weak Muscles and imbalances affecting your joints?

Muscular imbalances affect the body’s natural movement, causing stress, strain and misalignment at joints. Weak or tight muscles can cause disruption, pulling the joint out of its natural position leading to increased pain and discomfort, reduced range of movement and lead to long term joint degeneration.

How though?
1. The “muscular team work” falls apart with tight or weak muscles surrounding the joint pulling on the joint, compromising its stability and movement.
2. The body will compensate recruiting new muscles to enable movement at the joint. This leads to new “compensatory issues”.
3. Increased pressure on joint and nerves from misalignment.
4. Wear and tear of cartilage from joint shifting position from dominant / weak muscle support.

Soft tissue remedial therapy, sports massage - from assessment to implementing an individual treatment plan. Restore your body back to moving efficiently , through either day to day movement or in your sporting activities. Call

ARE YOUR MUSCLES REALLY TIGHT… OR ARE THEY DEHYDRATED? ☀️💧

During hot weather, many people notice their muscles feeling tighter than usual, as a result of excessive sweating, losing water and electrolytes. If these aren’t replaced, recovery, performance and tissue health can all suffer.

Dehydration can cause muscles and connective tissues to function less efficiently, leaving them feeling:

❌ Tight, stiff, heavy
❌ Fatigued
❌ More prone to cramping

Many people respond by stretching more, but if dehydration is the underlying issue, stretching alone won’t solve the problem.

Some simple adjustments can help:
💧 Drink regularly throughout the day
🧂 Replace electrolytes when sweating heavily
🥗 Eat well to support recovery
😴 Prioritise quality sleep
🏃 Modify training intensity during extreme heat
(Whilst they sound obvious, they are still overlooked!)

Soft Tissue Therapy can identify areas of tension, overload and compensation, helping to improve tissue mobility, circulation and recovery. Combined with good hydration and recovery habits, it can help keep your body moving and performing at its best.

Call Hagley Sports Massage on 07788 584553 to book your appointment today.

Please stay hydrated, safe and healthy.
