Let’s talk a bit about the proximal origin of re**us femoris… 🤔

The re**us femoris has two proximal heads. The direct (straight) head arises from the anterior inferior iliac spine (AIIS), while the indirect (reflected) head arises from the supra-acetabular groove/superior acetabular rim, with an attachment closely related to the hip joint capsule.

Interestingly, the reflected head has a much broader footprint than the direct head and its tendon extends deep into the muscle belly, contributing to the characteristic internal tendon architecture of re**us femoris. (PubMed)
