This is what the Growing Together group did this week
Ben and Beth from the charity Ty Coed visited us here at the John Burns Foundation to talk to the group about the exciting new roundhouse project.
The date that we will be starting construction work on the new roundhouse will be October 8th 2026.
Members of the group had the chance to ask Ben and Beth any questions.
As we didn't have time to cook, this weeks lunch was already prepared by Kate earlier in the week. For lunch Kate made two different types of soups; tomato soup and pumpkin soup with crotons and homemade soda bread.
For pudding they made cake.
Once talk was over, myself, Ceri, Wayne, Brendan, Shaun, Chrsitan, Brandon, Shaun, Carys, Simon H, Steff, Aaron, Lynda and Antoina did some work outside with Chris and Bridget.
Some of the work done were weeding, mowing and strimming the grass by the vegetable beds.
Once everyone outside completed their work, they all went back to the workshop to have lunch
During the lunch break everyone in the group sang happy birthday to Wanye
In the afternoon,myself, Ceri and the rest of the group including Wayne, Brendan, Christian, Brandon, Shaun, Carys, Simon H, Steff, Steve, Lynda and Antoina went up to the polytunnel with Chris and Bridget.
Some of the jobs done in the afternoon were weeding the vegetable beds by the polytunnel, planting new lettuces and picking pumpkins.
Before going home we put away the tools used back in the shed ready for another day and alos weighed the pumpkins earlier. One pumpkins weighed 21.4 kg!
