The John Burns Foundation

The John Burns Foundation The John Burns Foundation is a charitable trust founded to help make a difference to the lives of people and their pets throughout the UK.

Burns Pet Nutrition is a local business that grew and flourished thanks to the incredible support from the community in south west Wales, so it’s only right that we give something back to help and inspire charities, organisations and individuals to achieve their goals too. That’s why in 2007 Burns Pet Nutrition set up a charitable trust to help make a difference to the lives of people and their pe

ts throughout the UK. It’s not just financial assistance we provide – we also share our resources and skills, especially when conservation, the countryside, education or pets are involved. We are developing exciting new projects and partnerships that help enhance the lives of disadvantaged people, by offering practical recreational facilities and life skill opportunities, as well as promoting the effects of the human animal bond with our Burns by Your Side Reading Dog scheme launched this year. We hope to develop meaningful partnerships with human rights and welfare organisations and would welcome any enquiries about how we can work together. This is what the Growing Together group did this week

Myself, Ceri, Chrsitian, Wayne, Brendan, Aaron, Simon H, Simon D, Dai, Shaun. Gary, Lynda, and Antonia went to do a first aid awareness course. at the centre.
In the first aid awareness course run by Wayne from St John's Ambulance Cymru the group learnt all about basic first aid such as what to do in a emergency, how to help someone who is choking, and how to put someone in the recovery position.

The course also involved some role play in which we took turns to do CPR on a dummy and how to put someone in a recovery position.

Whilst we were busy learning first aid, Brandon helped Bridget in the kitchen to cook this week's lunch.
This time they made home made spinach and ricotta lasagne with potato wedges, salad, garlic bread, beetroot and tomato soup.
For pudding they made gooseberry crumble and ice cream

Once the first aid awareness course had finished, the group all went back to the workshop to have some lunch.

Everyone really enjoyed their lunch very much.

In the afternoon, Bridget did the washing up in the kitchen with Dai, Steff and Simon D, whilst everyone in the group went outside with Chris to water the plants.

I would like to close this week's blog by saying on behalf of the John Burns Foundation Growing Together group a big thank you very much to Wayne from St John's Ambulance Cymru for taking up his time to train us in first aid.
Thanks
Rory

🐾 Dog Park Maintenance Notice 🐾

At our Dog Adventure Park, the safety and enjoyment of our visitors is always our top priority.

Over the coming weeks, we will be carrying out some essential maintenance work in both of our dog parks. This will include filling in holes and repairing worn surfaces to ensure the parks remain safe, secure, and enjoyable for both dogs and their owners.

As a result, certain time slots may occasionally be unavailable while this work is being completed. However, alternative booking slots will remain available wherever possible to minimise any disruption.

We would like to thank all of our valued customers and their wonderful dogs for your continued support and for making our parks such a fantastic place to visit.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we make these improvements 🐶💚
