I love personalised things with a meaning behind them. We had lots of fun and made plenty of mess making this 😂

Last night Gary Little came along and officially became the very first patient through the doors of the new clinic!

I honestly couldn’t think of anyone more fitting. Gary started as a patient of mine a long time ago and is now someone I’m lucky enough to call a friend. He’s been a massive support to me and my business was the one who gave me the idea of The Croft and pushed me to take the leap. He believed I was capable of doing it even when I didn’t always believe it myself.

He’s an incredible businessman and has always been there with good advice whenever I’ve needed it. If I can become half the businesswoman he is a businessman I’ll be doing alright. 😂

Gary, thank you for always believing in me. Your support means more than you know and I’m so glad it was you in that chair first.

Now go and have the most amazing holiday with your lovely wife Angie you both deserve it!

A little extra that I’m more than happy to help with…

If you struggle to manage your fingernails for any reason, please don’t feel embarrassed or hesitate to ask me.

Just mention it at the start of your appointment and I can cut your fingernails before we move onto your feet. There is absolutely no extra charge for this.

If it’s something you need regularly, I can pop it on your notes so we can do them at every clinic appointment or home visit.

I want everyone to feel as comfortable as possible when they come to see me, so please just ask we’ll get them sorted.

One week today until I open the doors to my new clinic in Killingworth!

The final touches are being completed this week and then we’ll be ready. I can’t wait to show you all the clinic and welcome both familiar and new faces through the door.

I was invited along to Tynemouth Women’s Institute for their evening showcasing lots of different health and wellbeing services within our local community.

I took along a little bit of everything to show what podiatry involves — foot and ankle anatomy, common foot conditions, footwear advice, treatment products, instruments and my Doppler to demonstrate how we assess the circulation in the feet. 🩺👣

It was such a lovely evening chatting to everyone, answering questions and also getting the chance to network with other local health professionals, charities and services and learn a little more about what they offer too.

Really nice to get AB Podiatry out into the community, especially with the new clinic opening next week. 🥹🤎

Some clarification regarding home visits

I’ve had a few questions about why my home visit fee is now £55 so I just wanted to clear this up.

A routine treatment in my clinic is £45. A home visit is £55 so there is a £10 additional charge for me to travel to you bring all of my equipment and provide the treatment in your own home.

As I’ve mentioned before home visits have also started to take a toll on my back and neck due to carrying heavy equipment and treating in environments that aren’t always ideal for me to work in.

This is a big reason why I’ve invested in opening my own clinic. I now have a purpose-built space where I can treat patients safely and comfortably, so if you are physically able to attend the clinic, I would really appreciate you doing so.

I will still provide home visits for patients who genuinely need them, particularly those who are housebound, but these will be charged at £55.

I don’t particularly like having to justify my pricing, as ultimately I have to make decisions that are right for both my health and my business but I wanted to make the difference clear for anyone who has asked.

BACK TO SCHOOL 👟📚

Back to school means new school shoes for a lot of little feet.

They’re going to be wearing them for hours every day so it’s definitely worth making sure they fit properly. A few things to look out for:

👟 A little bit of growing room at the toes (around a thumbnail’s length).

👟 Make sure they’re the right width as well as length (getting both feet measured is always a good idea).

👟 Laces, Velcro or a buckle are best to keep the foot nice and secure.

👟 The sole should bend around the toes rather than folding through the middle.

👟 Check they’re not slipping at the heel when walking.

👟 Try not to go too big just so they’ll “grow into them” as they still need to fit securely now.

And remember to keep checking them! Children’s feet grow quickly with the Royal College of Podiatry recommending checking the fit around every 8 weeks. If they’re complaining about sore feet or toes or you notice rubbing or blisters it might be time to check them over.

When booking an appointment for podiatric care please have the following details available:

• Full name
• Date of birth
• Home address
• Email address

Once your appointment is confirmed you will receive a confirmation email with you appointment details and your consent form attached. Please complete this before attending your appointment.

You will also receive an email reminder the day before your appointment.

If you don’t have an email address, that’s absolutely fine we can complete your consent form together at your appointment.
