This mornings thoughts 💭 (It’s a long one) 😂
The past few days have been a big reminder of how much our hormones can affect our perception of things.
Last week after being away at the caravan I came home to all the usual chaos… washing to catch up on, bundles of clean washing needing ironed, another load waiting to go in, the case sitting there and my wee one’s toys needing put away.
One day I looked at it and thought, “I’ll just work through this bit by bit.” Separated it all into bundles ready to go.
The next day, when my hormones shifted, I looked at the exact same house and felt completely overwhelmed with the mess and chaos.
I was ranting away in my head about being the only one who does anything in this house, picking things up and tidying things away but really just moving them around. Feeling so overwhelmed I ended up bundling things up and going to bed.
The next day was the same… I finished work, sorted the kids, another washing done, more clean clothes to iron and I just stood looking thinking, “where do I even start?”
So again, early bed. I can’t see the mess from my bed 😂
Then yesterday…
I woke up and thought, “this actually won’t take me long.”
Finished work, took my wee one to the park, another washing done, house tidied, washing put away, ironing started, over 12k steps done and even got some things posted on Vinted.
Then at 10pm I found myself thinking about moving the furniture around and rearranging my living room… 😂 (I decided to save that for the weekend!)
But the thing is…
My house didn’t change.
The mess or things needing done didn’t change.
In reflection what changed was my hormones, my mindset and my ability to deal with it.
And it got me thinking about how often this happens in other areas of life too ….. work, relationships, and actually just situations in life that feel overwhelming.
Sometimes things aren’t actually worse… we’re just looking at them through a different lens because we’re tired, stressed or at a different point in our cycle.
So if you’re having one of those days where everything feels too much, be kind to yourself because tomorrow you might wake up in the same situation but see it different 💚
