🩶 Why We Offer Rose Petals at a Burial 🩶

The final moments at the graveside can often be some of the most difficult.

Traditionally, families may be invited to scatter a small handful of earth onto the coffin. While this can be an important and symbolic part of saying goodbye, we also understand that for some people, the sound and sight of earth falling onto the coffin can feel incredibly final and, at an already emotional time, can sometimes be upsetting or traumatic.

That is why, at K McMillan Family Funeral Directors, we always offer families a softer alternative.

At every burial, we offer and provide a beautiful basket of fresh rose petals complimentary at no extra charge, allowing family and friends to gently scatter petals into the grave as they say their final goodbye.

There is something incredibly peaceful about watching the petals fall. It can feel gentler, more personal and more comforting than scattering earth — particularly for children, grandchildren or anyone who may find that traditional moment difficult.

There is no right or wrong way to say goodbye. Some families choose earth, some choose petals, and some choose both.

K McMillan Family Funeral Directors are deeply saddened to announce the passing of the late Alison Clark, aged 59 years. Alison passed away suddenly at Monkland’s University Hospital on Sunday 9th August 2026.

Alison’s celebration of life will be held at Bishopbrigg’s Crematorium on Tuesday 25th August 2026 at 4.30pm.

🩶 MICHAEL MCGEEHAN, KILSYTH 🩶

K McMillan Family Funeral Directors are deeply saddened to announce the passing of the late Michael McGeehan, aged 85 years. Michael passed away peacefully at Glasgow Royal Infirmary on Thursday 30th July 2026.

Michael will be received into St Patrick’s Church on Wednesday 12th August 2026 at 5pm.

A requiem mass for the repose of his soul for Michael will be held at St Patrick’s Church, Kilsyth on Thursday 13th August 2026 at 9.30am, thereafter to Kilsyth Cemetery.

Our thoughts, love and support are with Michael’s loving family at this sad time.

K McMillan Family Funeral Directors are deeply saddened to announce the passing of the late Anne Knight nee Meechan, aged 71 years. Anne passed away peacefully at Craig En Goyne Nursing Home on Thursday 30th July 2026.

Anne will be received into St Patrick’s Church on Thursday 13th August 2026 at 5pm.

A requiem mass for the repose of her soul for Anne will be held at St Patrick’s Church, Kilsyth on Friday 14th August 2026 at 9.30am, thereafter to Kilsyth Cemetery.
